Root Luvin' FroShedYo v10

I really don't want to pay for any apps/widgets, so I haven't used Beautiful Widgets. Below is what the ROM-included weather app looks like on my phone. No matter where it is, the bottom of the temp at the lower right is cut off. I don't mind it otherwise, but that's annoying.

Not thrilled with this camera, either. Is there no way to turn off the shutter sound?? I downloaded Camera 360 and it's eh. I really want something quick that has a good autofocus and manual focus. The Sense camera was pretty decent. And again, I am loathe to pay for apps.

Thanks buddy. It seems to work fine even with the partition from the White Widow ROM I was using. I guess anything I have that uses a homescreen widget I will just remain installed on the main storage. Thank for the education. :(

If your using apps2SD because of memory issues, which is basically the only reason to use app2SD, you might as well try out the new Cache2Cache (by Zach.XTR) script on FroShedYo, ive used it on v10 and it works great. No more memory issues.

So, I installed FroShedYo last night, and gave it a go.

I've made backups using Titanium Backup Pro, restored everything back after installing the rom. I threw away the Launcher Pro and installed Go Launcher EX. I installed Autokiller, put setting on Strict. Installed CPUBoost, and set the highest to 710k and lowest to 19k. Governor is on "interactive."

So far, I was amazed at how responsive the whole rom was. The music app that comes with it is so far the best one I've ever used. The keyboard is nice, the flip animation is refreshing.

But then, problem with slow-down came back to haunt me.

I installed everything at 3AM last night, but today around 4PM, my phone slowed dramatically upto a point I had to pull the battery. I wiped Davik's cache and restarted my phone. It's playing music right now next to me, but I don't know when the problem is coming back...

I'll give it a go for couple more days, and if it brings more problems back again, then I'm going to try out xtrRom as my last resort. If that doesn't work either.... I don't know where to turn now LOL..

Change the minimum CPU speed to 245. As I understand it, with the CFS kernel, there is no benefit to running at 19.2 - everything 245 and under run the CPU at the same voltage, so the same battery drain.

You can try using the smartass governor, but I find interactive better myself. Still, it may work better the way that you use your phone.

My personal experience with this type of slow down is because the phone ran out of memory. I found that installing autokiller and setting it to strict resolved the issue for the most part. Disabling JIT also sped up the phone quite a bit. Now I run CelbFroyo 4.3 with 245/710 and smartass governor and really don't experience the reoccurring lag like I used too.

Mine's been slow for awhile now but I've been living with it. I haven't done anything different and whatever settings it had by default I haven't changed. But what has been bothering me lately is my 3g when tethering. Sometimes a page takes forever to load or doesn't load at all. I thought
I was having a problem with firefox until I noticed the little 3g icon on the phone wasn't doing anything. Anybody else having this issue. A while back we were talking about dropped calls and changing the setting for data. Don't know if that has anything to do with it.

Internal: 167mb ( 112mb free ) Is that low?

no,youve still got most of it :) i have no idea how close to zero youd have to get before considering it low. ive only got 83.5mb available(and im running the cache2cache mentioned above  ) and i dont have any slow down prollems.

i did however switch to celb 4.3. ive been there for a couple days now with no prollems. before i switched froshedyo vanilla was still running fine, and prolly had about 30mb less(only flashed the cache2cache recently on celb).

Any toughts on the tethering issue?

Edit: I bumped it up from stock to 710mhz to see if that would help although I don't think it will.

Sorry,no idea there. I have a wireless router so I don't have a whole lot of need for it. I ran my iPod touch off of it for a lil while for sh*ts and giggles, but i dint use it for very long.

Hopefully someone will have some ideas :)

Maybe it's just my phone eh?

who knows? :p

have you tried wiping caches? i just got an app called "cache cleaner NG" that does them all for you. i used it and my available memory shot up to almost 94 mb

also have you flashed the froshedyo update? try it like doogald suggested: nand backup, flash the update without doing a data wipe, then wipe the dalvic-cache before rebooting.

maybe one or both of those things will quicken it up again. :)

I forgot about "cache ceaner ng". I had it a couple roms ago and forgot I had it but when you mentioned it I looked back thru TI and found it.:) I gained 8mb. I'm suprised nobody else jumped on the tethering issue.:(

Slow down here too. Running the cache cleaner and I'll keep you all posted.

But dumb question.

Why is it that my audiable widegets are gone from the list?
Does it need to be on the phones memory?

And the widget function only works on the main memory, can anyone suggest how to fix that?

Do you mean that you cannot run widgets from apps that have been moved to the SD card? That is, unfortunately, a requirement for widgets - they cannot be run from the SD card. It makes sense when you realize that the SD card is mounted late in the process when the phone is restarted, and is also not available when you mount the SD card to your computer when you tether - the widget would not be available to the home screen launcher app in those circumstances.

I was over on XDA reading a post on what other people have their eris's oc'd to. There were a few that had there's oc'd to 787 so like a dummey I bumped mine up and now I'm stuck at the three droids skateing. It would seam that I need some expert advice to get me out of this mess.:( I did something similar awhile ago with a different rom but was able to get myself out of it.

Edit: I fixed it myself, thanks

I've been using this rom for past week or so, and here are my few thoughts.

so far, FroShedYo has been the most reliable Rom. Everything runs fast. Less of lag. I love the music player that came along with it as well.

One thing is GPS wasn't working somehow. I fixed it by Installing "GPS Status." I callibrated the GPS and instantly GPS Navigation was fixed.

I just installed Cache Clean NG, and I hope it does some magic for me.

One more thing is, I moved on from Launcher Pro to Go Launcher EX. This change might have been a deal breaker for me, for I didn't see Go launcher shutting down due to inactivity or unresponsive feature..

sounds like you fixed it,but for others that may read this another way to fix navigation is to open maps, then find somewhere and navigate to it from inside maps. it will work, and from then on whenever you activate navigation by itself,or from car home it will work without getting stuck on the "checking status"(or whatever it says) message. ive had this issue in some of the roms ive tried and that has fixed it every time. i have also not had the other prollem that a few have had- the freezing when used for more than 20-30 minutes.

im not exactly sure from your statement if switching to go launcher ex was good or bad? ive heard good things about ex,but for what its worth i never had any prollems with launcher pro with froshedyo vanilla.

bobcat, ive read a few claims of people overclocking even faster than that! some phones can handle it,some cant... 710 seems to be the consensus(<sp? maybe i should just say agreement :p ) of a safe upper limit and ive had mine clocked at that since i started messing with this phone and no issues. :)
