Root Luvin' FroShedYo v10

I've been using this rom for past week or so, and here are my few thoughts.

so far, FroShedYo has been the most reliable Rom. Everything runs fast. Less of lag. I love the music player that came along with it as well.

One thing is GPS wasn't working somehow. I fixed it by Installing "GPS Status." I callibrated the GPS and instantly GPS Navigation was fixed.

I just installed Cache Clean NG, and I hope it does some magic for me.

One more thing is, I moved on from Launcher Pro to Go Launcher EX. This change might have been a deal breaker for me, for I didn't see Go launcher shutting down due to inactivity or unresponsive feature..

What music player? Mine (I used Vanilla) didn't come with one...?

I had the GPS problem as well, and I fixed it by opening up Google Maps, then going back to Nav. Seems to work fine now. Unfortunately I had to get lost once with it, as my parents were driving me back from the airport when I figured out the nav wasn't working. oooops.

FroShedYo comes with the MIUI music player. I don't like it at all as it's missing a few features that the stock player has, (using the trackball to skip songs, landscape mode, etc.)

I ended up removing it and copying the stock player over from a different ROM.

My personal experience with this type of slow down is because the phone ran out of memory. I found that installing autokiller and setting it to strict resolved the issue for the most part. Disabling JIT also sped up the phone quite a bit. Now I run CelbFroyo 4.3 with 245/710 and smartass governor and really don't experience the reoccurring lag like I used too.

So do you think it's this rom? I have auto killer, no jit, 120mb, cache cleaner ng, new radio.

bobcat,i wonder if the flip animations are slowing down your phone? on the update,go to froshedyos xda thread, scroll down to direct downloads and download the vanilla 1-22-11 zip.

better yet,heres a direct link :)
http://www.androidphiles.com/files/get/03hT75u77h/vanilla.froshedyo-01-22-2011.zip

boot into recovery, make backup, flash it without doing any wipes. afterward, wipe dalvic cache. it might only be a few days newer than the version we first used, but it couldnt hurt to update it.

Whooaaa!!!! I installed that zip and all hell broke loose.:eek: It wiped out my contacts, uninstalled some apps(TI won't reinstall them), Market won't load, I now have 10 home screens and I don't what all else.:eek: I mighy have to try a different rom. I really liked this one.

Yikes! That sounds like total chaos, lol. If you don't want to just go back to your backup, try doing a wipe and install that zip fresh. Looks like it's not a good idea to install a FroShedYo update directly over top of the last version, lol.

If you do want to try somethin different, try celb. It's pure, simple cyanogen with no developer tweaks. I've stuck with it longer than anything :)

Do you have a link for it Scotty?

Using Red Glass, I had my phone overclocked at 245/710.

My problem was that upon waking the phone, it is very slow for almost 30 seconds. I changed the minimum CPU to 604 and that helped tremendously. My question is will this cause the CPU to "burn out" quicker, or is it OK to keep it that high 24/7?

Also, I stream Sirius/XM all day. I go through 3 batteries a day. Is there one setting for the governor that would be more beneficial to my usage than the others?

i think there is maybe something else going on... ive set my minimums at 190 and 245 and not had that issue waking up. i keep my main setting on 550/710 and the charging/screen off settings at 245/550.

if you dont have at least a screen off setting, maybe add one,and first try 245/550. if no change try 550/550. maybe part of the prollem is the large gap between 245 and 710,so maybe try the main minimum at 550

as to wether 604 is an unsafe minimum,i wouldnt think so,as ive see folks clock the main at 710/710(or higher  ),but ill let someone else answer it for sure.

   <- one for each battery, lol. i guess theres no way you can plug the phone in while youre streaming? do you have to change them out one by one to charge them all back up at the end of the night?

Changed the settings and will give it a try. Didn't realize there was a different setting for screen off.

I run a milk route and the truck I drive has no plug and I don't want to spend my money on their truck! So I get 4 hours out of a battery. One lasts from around 330AM to about 8, then 8 to around 12, and the third one get's me home.

I have the charger with the extra slot for charging phone and extra battery at the same time. So I just plug one battery in when I get home, and the other one and the phone when I go to bed. It's not ideal, but it works.

main thread on XDA:
[ROM][GPL] CELB Froyo 4.3(Plain CM Rom)1-21-11 - xda-developers

download 4.3:
http://www.androidphiles.com/files/get/OXWOsl4u2x/celbfroyo4.3.zip

google apps:
http://mirror.kanged.net/gapps

i also flashed the OpenGLES 1.1,cache2cashe,and the newest radio :) tho i dont really know if OpenGLES did much for me,lol

Scotty, the google apps link you have and the link on the XDA site seem to be dead (404 not found). I don't want to flash the zip until I can do it all.

Just as an FYI, if all else fails, you can always get a good-to-go Google apps package at the CyanogenMod web site. If you go to downloads and use the Hero CDMA downloads, in order to get the appropriate screen resolution version of the apps, you'll be fine.

So, here: Google Addon MDPI-20101020 - CyanogenMod Forum

(Or, of course, the Google apps package that you may have used already with FroShedYo Vanilla will work with this.)

Been on this rom for several weeks now and I think my eris is about to give out. Everything has gotten really slow lately and it takes forever to respond to my inputs. Any ideas?

I was having similar issues so now I'm giving Celb 4.3 a try.:) It's not your phone.

It doesn't seem like anyone else is having issues, but my battery life has been terrible since I installed this ROM. As in - 100% when I left for work at 7:30, and down to 19% by 1:30pm...and I hadn't used it for anything!

I've checked all the usual stuff. "display" is using the most system resources under battery, but that was on less than 25% (I've since put it on auto just to see if that fixes it, though auto seems to stay dim for annoyingly long before brightening): Twitpic - Share photos on Twitter I also checked to see if there are any strange apps draining resources and it doesn't look that way. The Weather Channel uses the most, but even that's not crazy amounts. I haven't done any overclocking or anything. Any ideas?

(And I'd still love to find a way to fix the news and weather widget cutting off on the bottom: http://www.twitpic.com/3tb1jd)

oh aaaand one more thing. When I get a message or email, normally the trackball would slowly blink and/or the LED would flash. I know that the LED doesn't have colors, but when I go into the LED notifications (which SAY they are also for the trackball) and try to edit things, it doesn't work.

Instead, all I seem to be able to get is this superquick flash of the trackball when I get an email or message. I can barely even see it flashing, so I miss messages all the time.

You may want to try wiping battery stats. After restarting in Recovery, go to the wipe menu, choose wipe battery stats, and then restart. Some say that you need to be 100% charged when you do this, then restart and keep it on the charger until it is 100% again, and then run the phone until the battery drains, but I personally don't believe that this hocus-pocus is necessary. I;d just try wiping battery stats.

Also, you can look in settings->about phone->battery use and see what's been using the battery.

I already looked in the settings and nothing looks amiss. I may have not been at 100% battery when I rooted, so I just wiped the stats and we'll see how it goes.
