Root Major Battery Drain

I am trying it on my stock battery right now, it is supposed to be for many different batteries. You can even spin the base around to accommodate smaller batteries.

The batteries I got a while back came with a wall charger as well. The stock battery charges just fine in it. ;)

I couldn't resist, had to try it. :D

Hey MJ, how old is your battery? They do lose potency over time. I recently replaced my 16 month old original battery and am getting great life out of my new battery.

Right now my battery has been up for 20 hours and it is down to 16%. I've used it pretty heavy today. If I wasn't on a call I was listening to music. This is what I bought off of ebay if you are interested... Amazon.com: Anker 2 x 1700mAh Li-ion Batteries for Sprint HTC EVO 4G, EVO Shift 4G, Droid Incredible; HTC Touch Pro2, Touch Pro 2, Snap; Fits A9292 + Free Anker Multi-purpose USB Travel Charger: Electronics

I never answered your question. I got this phone brand new 8/2/2011. I've only had this phone for a little over 6 months

No worries MJ. Get your setup working any better?

From the looks of this thread I need to be calling Anker to get my commissions!:D

I did thank you. Aggressive Freedom with InteractiveX set to 245 min and 1036 max likes to play nice on the newer ROMs (4.67).

So how much screen time are you showing when you hit the 50% mark? I actually started tracking mine on a spreadsheet. Cool right?!?!

Anyway with anthrax and mikg I am getting about 45 minutes of screen time before hitting the 60% mark. I'm not sure why I picked 60, just did randomly and use that as my baseline.

As a statistics junkie, this is way cool! How are you finding total screen on time? I cam't seem to find that number

Using these batteries for a few days. one thing i noticed is that the battery does stay up at 100% for a good long while of no or moderate use. But, only if you use the charger to charge the battery. the same battery, charged in the phone, just drops off as usual with the stock or even an extended battery.

I read that the battery charger will charge to 100%, but your phone (unless its sbc) will still only charge to 90-100% for battery durability.

What kind of time are you getting on a charge?

I haven't had what o would consider a typical day yet. Too early to tell. I do see it seems to hang in there pretty well, so far, though.

I was just about to start a thread about my battery life and saw this one. So I'll just post here. My PRI is 2.33_003. I have had my phone since launch so I know I could probably use a new battery but I want to explore other options first. I am running Mik 3.0 and whatever kernel came with it. Battery life has always been just ok, never great. I play a few games that seem to eat like 1-2% of my battery every minute. Sometimes it seems like even more. The main ones are the mobage games. Pocket frogs, zombie farm and tiny tower. They seem to gobble battery up so fast it almost like something is broke.

The reason I was going to post today I because I unplugged my phone from charging all night about 4 hours ago and I have not really done anything with it yet, little bit of looking at some pictures I took and about 5 minutes total of games. My battery is currently at 25% and falling. It was at 28% about 10 minutes ago.

I cannot find the place on my phone that shows the graph of battery life to see where it took the massive dip this morning nor can I find where it tells me how long it's been since I have plugged in. There is a very remote chance that my charging port just didn't connect well last night and I unplugged this morning not fully charged but i'm not sure. Can anyone tell me where these settings are located?

Also for some reason when I go into settings>about phone>Battery I get the error message "Sorry! the application Settings(process com.android.settings) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again." and force closes. Don't know if this is a mik 3.0 issue or what. the Battery is the only settings menu that force closes and it does so 100% of the time.

Sorry for the long post and if it seems like it needs its own thread ill start one. Thanks. :)

Like everyone always says: "You might need to wipe cache and dalvik-cache." It usually fixes most of the problems we face. Games on the other hand keep the screen awake and the CPU going at full throttle while in use so those are going to eat away at the battery (hence why I don't play games on my phone).

Are any additional radios (WiFi, Bluetooth, GPS) on that aren't in use? The WiFi and Bluetooth radios will constantly look for a connection if it hasn't found one. GPS really doesn't search unless an app tells it to.

I would probably do a couple different things

1) Fix permissions. You can do it in mik tweaks or in recovery. This should clear up force close issues.

2) Use BetterBatteryStats to track what process is keeping your phone awake. This app shows more detail than any other app out there. http://db.tt/3g0LT4tT

3) Double check to make sure you don't have something like 4G enabled without realizing it. Really the only two things that can kill your battery in a matter of hours are GPS and 4G.

Excited to get these new batteries...scheduled for Wednesday. I am actually selling one of the batteries and the wall charger to my boss since I am never going to carry around a separate battery anywhere I go. Maybe once in a blue moon for a trip it could turn out to be useful I suppose. I don't know, I guess I hope I don't regret selling the extra battery, but I guess I still have my stock battery I can use if I'm in a pinch.

I think you might regret selling the charger. It seems to charge the battery a heck of a lot better than the phone does!

Unfortunately, the fix permissions thing does not fix my issue with looking at battery stats in the menu. still force closes. I just need to get used to not having that on my phone anymore. I may pick up those batteries that were linked earlier. Had my phone since launch. May just be time to replace it. The drain seems to be much worse than it should be. No 4g ever and gps is almost always off. like 98% of the time.

hi...u cant get in to stats without fc...i would wipe cache/ delvick cache lay rom over itself c if u fix and can c stats then...and then if not try a different rom till u can get rid of force closes cause being a software issues about ur stats can b part of ur battery drain problem through software i would think

Have you had this issue with other Roms? (the battery drain)

I would agree with itiscosmo, Reflash the rom after wiping cache and Dalvik cache. Then reboot. Maybe you had a bad download?

If you want to go to the newest Mikg then I'd wipe everything before flashing it. Well except for the SD card.

Bump for the battery link posted here. Whoa baby. I'm getting at least an extra hour of screen time off each charge compared to my stock battery.

Thanks for the update, your methods are a lot more scientific than mine so it is good to know this purchase has been doing something.
