Help Major Sprint HTC Hero Phone Issues

The reason I asked is because there is a fix for it if you are running Fresh 2.1.2. After I flashed that rom I got the error, and was able to fix it easily.
 
Tried to open google maps today and the phone crashes and reboots!!! Having flashbacks to win98 right now. I would rather have a win98 phone this pos

I want to call sprint and give them a chance to work this out before I root. I am also hoping they do the right thing and send me another hero or I can only dream they send me a blackberry

Good luck, dude. Careful what you wish for, Blackberries are very boring.....
 
I've had my Hero for most of the year now, & the only things I don't like are the on-board memory seems kinda small, especially limiting how many apps I can keep on there...
the only real issues had simple fixes:

it does slow down to a crawl if I pack it to the seems with apps, which is actually reasonable when you think about any such device... so I just delete apps I don't really use - not a big deal... would I like more memory? sure - maybe next time

the multi-tasking could be an issue, especially without obvious info on what apps are still open... Automatic Task Killer solves this with no problems... go into the settings (patience for this part: don't smash the phone, it'll be worth-it ;) ) for applications & note which apps are running that don't need to be; some tend to be repeat offenders... select them on the populated list in Auto Task Manager & it'll kill those apps upon screen-dark... fast as ever now

my only other real complaint was the battery life since the day I bought it... which was GREATLY IMPROVED with the 2.1 update.... so now, I don't care...

*...my only annoyance right now is purely superficial, although it could prove to be an issue as far as overall experience is concerned: we really need some of these album art issues for the music player resolved - especially for ogg files...
 
I recently had to get a new HTC hero. I had last years model before that. This new has been giving me problems. I push call and it takes bout 2 minutes for it to actually call the person. Also it automatically hangs up once the time of the call reaches 4hrs. It never did that with my old one. How do I fix all this? It's really annoying having to call the person back when my phone reaches 4hrs.
 
ok - You have two options -
one - Root - I did it over the weekend...its easy and You can always go back to stock.
Universal One Touch Root is GREAT

OR - Search for the new maintenance update. BEWARE - there is not an easy way to root once you have updated.....yet.
 
My new hero is better then my old but it still slow and I get that error 67 sometimes. I hate waiting for google maps to open

Not true. There's a easy way to root the .7 update. If you can read a list and do exactly what it says, only takes a few minutes (had to do it for a friend earlier who wanted to root but accidentally upgraded, was still less of a pain to do it as opposed to running a RUU and doing the one-click).

Rooting is worth it just to overclock alone. I cannot imagine my Hero running at 525 or whatever the standard clock speed is, especially on 2.1.

OK ok - I said EASY - I saw the XDA thread about it - Looked easier than the old way - but to a nooby....one click is about as easy as it gets....
