Root Manual Custom Lockscreen vs WidgetLocker

Do any of my rooted HTC Evo family know how to or have access to a guide which will allow me to create my own custom lockscreen sliders or flash a custom lockscreen similar to HTC Hero.

I know there isnt the actual Lockscreen on the EVO like the HERO persay. What I'm looking to do is have custom sliders that will allow me to use my own icons like a team logo, marvel comic hero, selfportrait, etc.. instead of the basic phone, message, or standard text lettering, Widgetlocker issues.

i believe that youd hafta edit the lockscreen script to have a custom icon on the sliders. but there are custom lockscreens, and certain roms have the ability to change them too. CM7 gives the option to have rotary or horizontal, but ive not seen the ability to change the icons it uses. LP also has the ability to add a launcher to the lockscreen. It comes standard with vol toggle and unlock, but you can add whatever app you want as a 3rd option. There is a rom out there (cant recall which offhand, MIUI perhaps or mayve everevolv) that allows for several launchers on the lockscreen. In my CM7 install the lockscreen launcher option allows for whatever app you want, but uses its own icon for it. Mine is handcent mms apk, but doesnt mirror the icon from my homepage nor the one from launcherpro. So it seems that its inherant to the script.

Never done it but you need to edit the framework of the lockscreen apk it self. If you are using vanilla and trying to edit that one its a little more complicated as the pngs, jars, and xmls associated with that are in the system framework somewhere and not in an apk you can grab...it can be done but you'll need to be well versed in themeing and developing. for those that arent you can read up or grab an app like widget locker, or goto, or etc...

The miui lockscreen does let you slide down and auto open either text messages or phone.
