March 6th Release - Feb 13th pre-sale.

So if you buy the HD dock and connect wirelessly to your home network and use the FF browser you will still have to pay for a tethering plan even though you are using no 3G/4G AT&T data?

I think tethering is only required if you get the laptop dock.

yea from reading the AT&T release if you purchase the dock you have to add tethering. Same principal as having to add a data plan to your phone even if you use 90% wifi you still have to pay. Same thing here as long as you purchase the dock tethering needs to be added to your plan.

I am on unlimited data if I pay for teathering at $20 is that still unlimited???

I'm thinking that your unlimited plan will go away and you'll be signed up for there Datapro plan. I plan on bitching my ass off threatening to move my business acct to another carrier if they don't let me keep my data.

I assume the tether would only apply if you used their mobile network. If they ever monitor your account, they might bill you based on a per mobile/firefox usage when connected to the HD dock.

I highly doubt that. It would be asinine to charge for tethering just for the HD dock. What if I have no interest in their gimmicky webtop and just want the dock for multimedia purposes? You're telling me I have to pay just to browse my photos on my HDTV.

No f'kn way

no their gonna make you add the plan on with purchase and if you dont the system will sweep and probably have some way of seeing that your using it and nail you anyway. I know you really want this phone shawn but there gonna charge you

As far as I can tell you only need to get the tethering plan if you get the laptop/phone bundle. If you buy the laptop dock separately then you don't have to get the tethering plan. I haven't seen anything about having the tethering plan for the HD dock.

yes only the laptop doc adds the tethering and it doesnt mater when you get it its gonna be a required add on

But the HD dock won't add anything correct? Just the laptop dock?

According to the official PR document it won't add anything. It only states that tethering is required with the laptop dock. No mention of it with the HD dock.

@AndreaCristiano: Thanks. Just read the FULL PR release and saw the laptop dock clause: "Laptop Dock - Firefox browser use with AT&T Mobile Broadband requires Tethering Plan." It's a little annoying when sites don't publish the full text. If you read it without that clause it seems like you don't need to pay for tethering if you buy the laptop dock full priced.

Tethering is required to get internet access through AT&T's network when you use the Webtop app on either the multimedia dock or the laptop dock.

If you plan to only use wifi while you are in Webtop mode, you don't need to get tethering - but you can't get a discount on the purchase either; a 2-year agreement with tethering is required for that.

This sounds about right.

"But now, executives say they are ready to take a strong stand behind Android. The company said it plans to launch 12 Android devices this year at the Consumer Electronics Show."

ReaLLY come on, this information is obviously bogus, I mean this doesn't make sense, are they going to launch 12 phones at next years CES, I don't get it. the article seems riddled with inconsistencies. I wouldn't believe any of it.

Although poorly constructed, that statement is saying that the execs announced their commitment to Android and 12 new devices while at CES (which we already knew), not that the devices are launching at CES.

They could also be talking about MWC.

So why hasn't AT&T posted the press release to their own webpage yet? My guess is because the release date isn't really locked in yet.

Confirmed:

AT&T Announces the World?s Most Powerful Smartphone, the Motorola ATRIX 4G, Will Be... -- DALLAS, Feb. 3, 2011 /PRNewswire/ --

Not only that, it requires a $100 mail-in rebate to get it, and you have to subscribe to the datapro plan WITH the tethering add-on. Multimedia dock $189 (includes bluetooth keyboard).

This is my first post here so feel free to rip me apart, but I have some questions and comments that make it sound not that bad.

This right here really stinks.
"The first combines ATRIX 4G and the Motorola Laptop Dock for a promotional price of $499.99 after a two-year service contract and $100 mail-in-rebate after subscription to Data Pro smartphone data plan and tethering add on. Customers who choose to purchase the Motorola Laptop Dock separately pay $499.99."

I read that part as, in order to get the bundle price you have to get the tethering plan. What if you were to buy the dock from another retailer(maybe, if amazon is cheaper) or buy the dock separately(prob not), are they going to force you to buy the tethering? How can they tell you are in webtop mode and connected to the laptop dock vs the multimedia dock, which also has the webtop mode.

"AT&T is also offering an Entertainment Access Kit for ATRIX customers which includes the Motorola HD Multimedia Dock, a Bluetooth
