Root Matrix Kernel - Version 1.1

I have been experiencing some lock ups at the 192 setting, so I'll have to play with it a little more before its ready.

I'm starting to think that clocking the msm8960 below 384mhz can not be done. I've tried to write several frequencies into acpuclock-msm8960 and the end result has always been unstable, or it flat out would not boot. I've looked at the work of several other devs and have not found one example of a clock speed below 384.

What would be better for battery saving? Stock kernel from 0.6 or Matrix Kernel with a certain setting (Lionheart, smartass, etc functions)?

Matrix set to the 1.5 with smartassv2 may see a marginal improvement in battery life. 1.5 ondemand2 should be about the same. Matrix Kernel has the CPU GPU and L2 overclocked. Performance vs the stock kernel is greatly improved. the cost of that improvement is higher power consumption. I personally run 384 1.67 ondemand2, and am able to go about 12 hrs on a full charge. Keep in mind my phone is constantly syncing works email and dealing with a rediculous amount of calls. On the weekends I can go a full day unless I'm tinkering with the system or gaming.

USB OTG (Host) is already in kernel (well source at least).
USB audio may or may not need to be added o.O (may be already there too)

CONFIG_SND_USB_AUDIO=y

CONFIG_USB_HID=y

Its been enabled since first version :)
It has to be a self powered USB hub to work

So it wasn't in stock, but was enabled in matrix? I'm gonna have to try it again.

:/ forgot I'm still on cm10 till matrix kernel gets fixed.

I'm not so sure that its broken. A few of us have been running it for a while. Have you tried it since you had DSF running again?

No. I meant the only time I tried using USB Host is when I first got the phone, it didn't work on stock. I haven't tried it on matrix kernel (and obviously can't until that boot issue gets fixed). What do you guys connect to it?

Nice work on getting us a new kernel!

Although I have run into one strange issue... once I enter a phone call, the call UI is totally non responsive and if the other party does not hang up, I must reboot my phone. As well I have no dialpad access once the call has started.

I do eventually get the error; com.android.phone is not responding

I didn't bother with a full backup since I was just trying out a kernel - I have reverted to the 'stock' kernel with the same results. Any suggestions?

FYI this is the only mod other than recovery & rooting I have ever done on this phone.

Thanks!

edit - just noticed wifi will not engage either, it will slide to on, then flash back and forth about 6 times, landing on off with the turning on wifi msg that persists

Always wipe cache and dalvik cache when flashing a kernel. That should take care of it. I've had that happen too

I haven't tested it

FYI - I feel my issue had nothing to do with this kernel. After replacing the kernel, wiping, clearing data and as well a factory reset (all multiple times) I still had the problem.

I had most of the bloatware (stock rom) quarantined along with a few build.prop mods that never caused any trouble in the past. I broke down and just installed a rom, and all was good.

Cool. Good to know.

I was curious if there is nfs support? I would love to have access to my file server over vpn.
It sucks when you have to use scp or rsync to grab a file. Or worse find it on the internet and try to download it.

Version 3 is built in. I haven't found an app that actually works, but you can mount via terminal emulator
