Root Matrix Kernel - Version 1.1

I guess it can but Jim took a stab at it one time and couldn't do it. I think someone else said we would have to wait for a newer kernel.

As I posted in the DSF thread, I did get this module to load in matrix, but as soon as you select 1.8ghz as the max speed, the system locks up. I'm wondering if this has something to do with voltages. Didn't someone post earlier in this thread about a certain voltage required to get 1.8GHz working?

Do you think a modified thermald.conf is required as well?

I posted the module that will load in matrix kernel and a thermal.conf that I tried to modify in a similar way to the one from the htc incredible 4g in the DSF thread.

Jimsmith80 if you have any pointers for me about this I'd really appreciate it. I think it should be stable if we can get it working. incredible 4g has had this working for a couple years now.

I haven't tested it with stock kernel yet but imagine similar problems.

Thanks!

I've been comparing the zip installers for matrix kernel and stock kernel and still don't understand why WiFi module won't load after I flash back to stock.

The module is included in both zips and the updater script seems to install /system in both zips.

I did notice that the stock zip includes a /system/lib/modules/wlan.ko that I don't see in matrix.

Have other people had this issue? I'm gonna look the dsf .7 zip for comparison.
Thanks,
-SB

So, JimSmith80, is there any chance that there will ever be a matrix kernel 1.2 with the 1.8ghz OC that lots of other msm8690 phones have had forever?

I'm sure you're off and on to better things by now. I have actually moved on to a Galaxy S4, but am hanging on to my Force as a hobby :)

Cheers,

I flashed this kernel to my boost force running JB and now its stuck at the boot screen. I wiped cache but not dalvik in cwm. Kinda lost at what to do now, any help would be appreciated.

This kernel is not for JB. ICS only. You will need to flash back the JB kernel.

Does this zip reflash the JB kernel or is it a mod to make matrix kernel work in JB? If JB mod, what kind of performance are you getting?

I wouldn't expect this kernel to work in JB without some modification.

Only the original files in your jb rom; kernel + modules and build prop.

Perfect! That's exactly what he needs to fix it.

I wish we could get source for the jelly bean ROM kernel, but I don't see it happening soon. Sprint definitely won't give it up. They wouldn't even give up the ROM!

ZTE isn't exactly cooperative either. I don't even think they will even acknowledge the JB ROM and defer to service providers.

Trying to get some companies to release GPL/LGPL code is almost impossible.

I got this thing called a monster cloud otg, which basically works as a USB hub/card reader when it's powered off and then when powered on acts as a NAS and either a Wi-Fi repeater or access point. I've been very nicely requesting binary firmwares and kernel/bootlader sources since Christmas and haven't made much progress.

I have been extremely polite but have been reminding them that their system is running rlx Linux and subject to GPL/LGPL rules. I'm still hoping. Their original reply email was very polite...but they haven't responded to my follow up this week.

Cheers,

So do I have to go back to ICS, install the kernel, and then flash JB again? Or install the kernel then the zip file you uploaded TrustMe90? Thanks for the help in advance.
