Nice to see another huge KISS fan on the forums ;)

Best metal bands would have to be:

Opeth
Mastodon(remissions and crack the skye are my fav albums)
Nile
Necrophagist
Lamb of god(some not all)
Nightwish (kinda metal but not really)
Skindred(again kinda metal)
Blind Guardian
Iced Earth
Demons and wizards
Amon Amarth
Black Sabbath
apocalyptica
Maximum the hormone

theres tons more but those are the bands i listen to most

New keyboard.. swype was killing me.. i'll figure this out one day..

lol

Guitarist has no talent. I know, its hard playing in drop D.
Song had absolutely no flow or transitions. Oh! The drummer is double bassing now, that means play faster guys, come on!

Other than that the song was painfully slow and the solo just left me disappointed. I youtubed a few random bands out of your list and they seem to all just be the same thing over and over. I can't tell the bands apart, let alone the songs. I'm not hating on metal, or even this specific screaming/blast beat laden genre, but give me something more. Playing drums as fast as you can isn't rhythm. Screaming randomly isn't metal. Once you get past the teenage angst the music has nothing. Don't get me wrong, I'd still listen to this over disturbed(which is basically flawed in the same ways I've described) - but there is so much music out there that people put a lot more thought, talent, creativity, and soul into than this.

Protest the Hero was mentioned, I've seen them live and met them at a signing. Not only are they cool as shit, but each member can play their instrument incredibly well. I realize not everyone loves his voice, but he has crazy range AND can scream. This is metal done with talent, dynamics, transitions, soul, not just anger.

Not trying to get into a my music is better than your music argument, but if you're gonna tell people to drop lamb of god and put stuff up like that, you're beggin for it ;).

Motorheas and Slayer are on my list for what I THOUGHT were obvious reasons ..and what radio station are you listening to that plays them.. not your local clear channel station. I am sure.
they are on the list for obivous reasons and i agree they belong there, but when you list them after saying "True metal was never and will never be played on the radio", it makes you seem hypocritical (again, i'm disagreeing with the quoted sentence, not the bands listed)

Respect your elders kid.. if I seem contradictory, you have failed to comprehend... or you just don't speak cranky old guy
yes, calling someone on an internet forum a "kid", very mature of you

if you can't tell atheist and lykathea aflame apart, i think there's something wrong with your hearing

that's weird, 'cause the youtube piece you posted is exactly the kind of thing i would call emo nu-metal crap for angsty teens - not unlike disturbed (ok, they were better than disturbed, but i'd still mention them in the same breath)

This is metal done with talent, dynamics, transitions, soul, not just anger.
that immolation piece i posted wasn't exactly meant as any sort of "this is the best in metal" sort of statement - i just wanted to bring the thread back on track with something straightforward ("just anger") which every metalhead knows; the album is a bit of a classic in modern death metal anyway ( Encyclopaedia Metallum - Immolation - Close to a World Below )
for the qualities you mentioned, i'd recommend the aforementioned atheist and lykathea aflame among others

well, judging by what i've seen, i feel there's really no point in that kind of an argument (if there ever is...) - you clearly prefer a totally different genre, perhaps not in the metal domain

just to take a gander at some metal i like that you might as well, try freak kitchen:

*sidenote: tho' they aren't exactly among my fav bands, freak kitchen threw the best gig i've ever been to a while back imo

After going through and listening to all my music I came to the conclusion that any band that started on or around the year 2005 and up are bound to suck. there has been no good music since then.

im still a fan of the 90's best era as far as rock(of all kinds) is concerned.

Three deep breaths... relax.. I cant speak for everyone, but my posts were meant to be lighthearted.

PtH is the shit. I'm pumped for their new album in March.

Maybe you need a better collection of new music then :D

Metal!!!\m/

I found the love of metal music way back when I was a youngster and for some reason I never stopped liking it as I got older. As far as bands go, old school thrash is probably my favorite genre. Testament, Forbidden, Megadeth, I don't even want to start typing them out. If it's heavy I will give it a shot.

Last show I saw was Iron Maiden/Dream Theater in DC back in July.
