Root [MetroPCS/CDMA] New MetroPCS Update MF2 any known root methods?

Don't want to get in the way of what's going on above ^^ but can we keep this thread as close to topic as possible
 
Damn, not long after I break my s3, we get an ota? Anyhow the s4 is nice guys, hop on it. All the latest right away thanks to s4 google edition and the
s4 variants are all way more similar than the s3

Edit: in other words you can flash pretty much any other s4 roms you want. The freedom of that feels good, come on over! Lol.
 
Wow People Really Dont Realize the time and effort put in by this man to get everything going here...Shabb did more than enough....

People got together to get him the phone to get development going which he did and is still doing...and nowhere was it said that he couldn't do what he wanted with HIS phone....

anyways to be on topic metropolis 1.4.0 is up, subscribed users should have gotten the alert about it 20 mins ago. i messed up on my bootanimation so there is none and its just black screen, you arent bricked :P
 
True I agree ...but right is right and you earned the right to do what you needed to with that phone and the proof is all over our threads .... even the ones that dont have your name on them including mine are credited in some way to all your work...

i dont see the any issues here lol shabby started making roms for us without even having a metro gs3 he had me as one of his first tester and file sending assistant so what changes now? nothing dont know if he mentioned but theres an update for metropolis coming so while those fear lack of development they are so far from reality its not even funny. anyways with all due respect to my partner in crime and shabby lets move on with the topic. there are things needed to be discussed since development is still going forward and nothing is stoping us then i would like to discuss our journey with this mf2 update. so i got home yesterday around 5pm by the time we figured out that the update uses a smart script to determine i cant be on a custom recovery it was around 6pm from there there was another script i believe i could enter stock recovery browser sd card for file but the update zip will not show....... perhaps i could of renamed it to something else... regardless we decided to flash via adb usb to pc that worked flawlessly. so once that was done shabby showed me how to dump the files and mind you guys these are huge files im talking about system.img is alone over 1 gb but either way the next step was for me to upload these huge files and send them to shabby. in conclusion shabby dont need a physical phone to continue his development this is a team effort not a one man train ;) i hope you guys continue to enjoy your experience here at androidforums!

if you guys gonna go back to stock using odin not mobile odin cuz like shabby said using mobile odin wont change bootloader. im on mf2 rooted with twrp installed. it wasnt easy since i had to odin to mb2 then install cwm then root then i downloaded ota root keeper on the play market free to preserve my root from there i used mobile odin only to flash the stock recovery from mb2 then i entered recoveryand chose adb and flashed mf2 patch once i booted back up everything was fresh and clean and i just opened ota root keeper and restored root ;) anyways it was confusing at first but we succeeded!

the international model has someone with a screenshot showing them on 4.3, they dont have an update yet. after they get an update it takes a few months for teh first us carrier to get it. then put it in us carrier timeline, sprint got the premium suite a few weeks after we got 4.1.2, meanwhile we just got it (so about 4 months). the merger slowed down the update no doubt but doesnt mean it will get sped up going on out :/

hey stranger where u been :D On the side guys metropolis 1.4.0 has been released!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! based on stock mf2 deodexed ;) so for all ya theme customizers out there ya already know whats up :D

I will continue to upload dumps and all for everyone for updates like I did the other day, and even backup dumps. As far as making themes there is no reason I need to make 1 since we have morph but I will continue to maintain little stuff here and there and been working on the new sec launcher with a modified home screen and app drawer.

But like shabby said he still is with us and isnt leaving, even if he does I for 1 still support him on whatever decision he makes.

With that being said, look for a new dump of an unrooted/rooted stock rom. :D

I was finally able to restore root

I had to use Odin to go back to LJ1
Root
Mobile Odin to MB2 with Root Option
Then downloaded OTA Root Kepper
Then updated to MF2
Restore Root

nuttmeg actually provided me the update.zip :) i only posted it cuz he hadnt yet.

You will not have access to T-Mobile HSPA+. The phone is still using MetroPCS CDMA/LTE network. The update was mainly to bring Premium Suite to the SIII

However, when T-Mobile combines MetroPCS LTE with T-Mobile LTE for 10X10Mhz the phone would just use T-Mobile LTE for data & MetroPCS CDMA for voice

hey i have CWM recovery on my stock rooted phone. How do i switch back to stock recovery ? If i switch back to stock recovery will that let me get the update ?

For the record I sent the money back to you because you earned it.My only deal was I thought dev phones were meant to be passed along when the time comes . Like after we got you that one we were supposed to take collection to get Chiwen a phone. To the best of my knowledge that never happened.
Anyhow thanks for all the great work you have done. You have earned 10 fold what you have gotten. Anyhow sorry to get off topic. Also anyone heard about the announcement of the sim cards being hacked?

Thanks to Shabby it's already posted flushable zip so you just download it and flash it like the other that's what I did you don't have to switch recovery. You can get it on post # 52 OR http://androidforums.com/showthread.php?t=682410
