If your running cm7,all you need yo do is boot into recovery and flash the metro pcs web and mms AOSP.zip and then reboot. You will have working mms.

I have my HTC EVO flashed to metro but found out it was on 2.3.3 when i bought it. Can I run ruu on it with out losing my flash? Still new to the android world need help please. Thanks in advance.

Well that would be possible if I had it rooted before hand but it wasn't so theres why I'm posting there isn't a way to go back. I found out with s on I'm screwed on downgrades so I guess it's my learning experience and can be useful to everyone
are you asking if you can downgrade back down to froyo? because you can do it. not sure how your data and text will work but you can just flash a froyo rom. they are found in the http://androidforums.com/evo-4g-all-things-root/284413-roms-kernels-download-page.html sticky.

well as long as your rooted and have a custom recovery installed you can do anything to your phone that you like..you can flash any rom of your choice (as long as its compatible with the .zip files i provided the links to.either and AOSP,sense based off an OTA update like 3.70 and the newest 4.24 (gingerbread)..after flashing the ROM you choose,simply flash the appropriate .zip for metro web and MMS script..then your mms will work along with web talk and text...no matter what rom you use,talk and text will ALWAYS work,no matter what.

OK, so I've had an EVO flashed over to Metro, Rooted (S-Off) & running Metrodroid 2.2, setup by someone else, for a couple of months now.
I'm not sure all the EPST settings are correct, but, for the most part, it is functioning with voice text & web, nominally.
So, I know there's no way to use EVO's 4G WiMax radio, on Metro, because of the frequency difference, between it & Metro's 4G-LTE system. And, there's no such thing as real 3G either, so, we're just stuck with 1X RTT.
I'm questioning if other settings like, can I safely update, the Radio's, the NV, PRI, &, Hboot, without loosing the settings in Metrodroid that allow MMS to work, and would it improve the situation?
I can live with most of this (at least a while longer), but, the 1X D/L speed, is really tanked.
Even with greater than 3 bars of available signal, it' remains less than 10Kbs at best download, yet the upload gets upward of 40Kbs. I feel I've reached my level of incompetence, and don't know which way to go.

sorry man..as far as network speed is concerned,thats all your gonn abe able to get...the only benefit to getting your evo flashed to metro is to get a "true, fully unlimited phone plan with data" and not have to get ass raped every month by sprint/verizon or whoever you go with..i mean for 50 dollars a month for unlimited everything,you kinda gotta remember "you get what you pay for"..lol i know it kinda suck,but just think.3G is NOT THAT MUCH FASTER than our 1x and its like 30 -50 dollars more a month and you dont even get unlimited data (sometimes,depending on your plan)..
so basically im saying,network speed wise,its not gonna get any faster for you..
but if you want to change your pri,prl,radio,kernel,none of it should effect your programming..(except maybe the prl update) just make sure to do a nandroid just incase sumthing goes wrong,you can atleast restore from there..hope this gives you the info you were looking for.

I agree cheep is as cheep does, but, doesn't this look a little slower than slow?
Of course I'm blazing at close to 6Mbs, on my own WiFi network connection.
But, I can't stay home forever, and WiFi gets sparse when I'm at the hospital.
Oh! and I've noticed, the upload speed is generally 5 times the download speed, that's why I'm complaining.

dont i have to be rooted to install roms i cant seem to downgrade. ive tried to the bootloader is on 2.16. i have tried all types of ways to downgrade.

Yea. You must be rooted with custom recovery. I suggest amon RA recovery. If your rooted already,just download rom manager and select flash alternate recovery.(amon RA).
if you have s-on and have hboot 2.16 then you will have to wait to root your phone. you can read this:You Can't Root Your Gingerbread 2.3.3. Evo....Just Yet.

Same here if anyone can get the metro settings for web and mms since we can't install roms or root email me IGerald904@gmail.com if its possible id like to have web and mms please.
i do not think that it is possible to do what you guys are asking unless you are rooted. i could be very wrong, but i have not found anything on the net that suggests that it is possible.

I'm on Metro,for what it's worth. Do you suppose my (# nutered) EPST settings would help? Else, any of the guru's, can surely pick it apart to find my errors with it.

However I called this phone flashing company and they said they cant flash Android version 2.3. Now is that true you cant flash the 2.3 yet? Or is it just that certain company? I am not familiar with the flashing process to metro but I do believe you have to be rooted to do that. Can you tell us what your hboot version is and if it says s-on or s-off in the top left. Power off the phone them hold volume down+power til the white bootloader screen comes up.

Ok to answer your question yes you can have it flashed. mine was flashed on 2.3.3 and I finally got web working without root just no mms but you can use go sms to send them I already tried that method it works. What hboot are you on, cause 2.15 I think can be rooted?

Also u can try an authorized metro dealer or corporate store I had mine done at an authorized dealer my buddy has his done at the corporate store and I hooked his net up now he's good to go. If you want to figure out how to do web ill post a link.
Please do man Ive been trying to find out hot to get data. Don't really care much for mms. thanks.

Im still on sprint but i already order service with cricket instead do to the 3g service in my area. I was trying to root my phone but learned that my 2.3.3 means im screwed. The cricket store by my house says they can flash it to work on their network and will make everything work... I dont know how that would be possible unless they downgrade and root it, but from what i read from a few people from metro it is do-able some how to flash the evo to work on metro or cricket without having it rooted, just not sure how they are doing it. if anyone knows please tell me... im going nuts lol
