Root [MetroPCS] MetroPCS Deceiving Throttle

Status
Not open for further replies.
MetroPCS claim after allotted data, speed is throttle down to true 3G.

I tested different days and different times:

LTE (4G LTE) 20mb/down 20mb/up
WCDMA (3G) 10mb/down 1mb/up
GSM (2G) 0.16mb/down 0.16mb/up

After allotted GB, I tested around town (Sacramento, Ca), speed is constantly maxed at 0.1mb/down and 0.1mb/up. Well below any 3G service and unusable.

Has anyone else noticed this or am I experiencing isolated incident? If everyone is seeing the same thing, we should make a formal complaint. This is false advertising by MetroPCS.

I had the same issue here in Pensacola FL. Throttle was limited to about 1.6 down and .5 up. I had to change to the $60 plan because youre right its unusable.

Thank you for the reply. At 1.6mb/down, I guess they're not lying. 2G speed theoretically max at 0.25mb. So you're actually getting 3g, slow but still 3G. Well, sucks for anyone in the Sacramento area, with 0.1mb we might as well go back to AOL dial-up haha.

Lol that does sound bad. Call metro or message them on Facebook someone called me within a day when my speedtest was real low.

My LTE IS BANANAS DEAL WITH IT

Those are about the same speeds we get in the NE when you've gone over data limit or they are 3G which Is metros b/s 1x.

I'm on the $60 plan with The added hotspot and they claim unlimited 4g data but other apps say I'm only 3g... I'm going to call them and see what the deal is.... will report their explanation here.

I recently brought a Lumia 925, and was receiving slower speeds than I had with the F6. Messaged Metro on facebook and they told me to use the T-Mobile APN. Now I'm noticing faster speeds than I ever had with the F6 on fast.metropcs.com. Tried the T-Mobile APN in my F6 and there is definitely a difference.

Here's the T-Mobile APN.

APN: fast.t-mobile.com
MMSC: http://mms.msg.eng.t-mobile.com/mms/wapenc
MCC: 310
MNC: 260
APN Type: default,mms,supl
