Root [MetroPCS] [MOD] [Beta] SdCard Memory Hack

he is working on it. Wanna try something for me? try my deodexed stock rom. I just finished building another test..

Remember, it is a test, so it still might not work, but you should check it out.

Yes it did.
Checking if loki-fying is needed/dev/block/platform/msm_sdcc. 1/by-name/boot needs lokifying.
[+] loki_patch v2.1
E: [-] Failed to mmap aboot.
E: Error loki-ifying the boot image.

Going into the Advanced menu in CWM and toggling Loki support allowed them to install fine on the attempt that I got that error

Funny you mentioned that, that's actually what I'm preparing to do. Files are currently copying to my SD card but slow as hell, so I'm not sure if I'll get to finish tonight, gotta be up early tomorrow and should've crashed by now, but if I do manage to get it copied and flashed I'll let you know ASAP.

Okay. I really have been working on this. Once this is down, we can have an opening to themes, ui tweaks and other interesting things.

You should get into the oudhitsquad chatroom.

Started chatting last night but the same thing happened. I'm used to staying up all night, but lately I've had to be up early for a bunch of Drs Appointments, so I had to cut out before I could get any results. As of now I have to be up in 4 hours, and the files I'm copying are barely 1/2 finished. So I'll probably end up passing out before it finishes. I will have the files on the phone while I'm out and will flash it First chance I get if isn't finished soon. Either way I'll send you a PM with the results of my tests, Unless its a fix then I'll post it here first chance I get.

It finished so I tried a couple of steps and flashed it, BUT it gets past the LG screen but once it's into the MetroPCS boot it either just loops, and one time it was just a blank screen. So I'm going to reboot my recovery, and crash for now,
if you have a specific sequence or combination of files to try just shoot me a PM, and when I get up in the morning I'll start testing again. It could've been something I did, or a setting (I did have to disable Loki support for it to flash just FYI) to cause these results so let me know at what state you'd like the phone, what you'd like me to start with in the morning, and which files to test, in what sequence from there.

I'll be in the oudhitsquad irc channel when you get up. We can work on things from there when you get up.

Hey Guys, I have a question about this fix but let me start off by thanking pressy4pie and others who have put in work on their free time to fix this shit mistake that LG has put out. Really, thanks.

I tried to follow pressy4pie's instructions in the first post and am using a 32 GB sd card, and now that I've completed everything and done the second factory reset, I still have only 1.27 GB internal storage. Here are the steps I took:

(1) formatted SD card using Minitool partition wizard home edition into a FAT32 (15 GB) and a EXT4 (~15.5 GB) partition, both primary. Note, there was a ~150 MB "logical" partition that I couldn't delete.

(2) factory hard reset using home+power+vol down buttons

(2) rooted phone using motochopper

(3) downloaded flashify app

(4) copied recovery and boot images to SD card via USB

(5) used flashify to load recovery image, then loaded boot image and did not reboot inbetween

(6) factory hard reset using home+power+vol down

Any tips on what I did wrong or suggestions to try again will be greatly appreciated.

By the way, if it's the flashify app that's the problem, please let me know another way to load those images. I tried to figure out how to do it without flashify but couldn't find anything that made sense.

I've had all the same errors posted and through various methods got around them, but I've had no luck getting this to work, each time I've completed it my internal storage still shows as 1.27G. I eventually totally bricked my phone but managed to restore it (not easy), I lost root, recovery, even CWM. I'm now at the point where I basically have a brand new phone on the "i" SW with root access, but can't get this to work for me. I've even tried formatting everything while in CWM (which got me to the brick). If anyone comes up with a solution, a step, a patch, or figures out which dumb setting is causing this. I'm not sure if there's something a bit more detailed in the methods to follow the steps for this patch, anyone with any ideas let me know and I'll give it a try. As of now I've tried every posted method I've come across, except using ADB and that's because I'm not familiar enough with it without running it via a windows script, and not comfortable experimenting with it yet. The EVO was SO much simpler damn it. I'll be trying more things and sequences while away, and will let you know if I come across something missed.
A Few questions I'd pose, Is this best to do all while in the CWM Recovery as I have been doing? and Between the steps, flashing the files from CWM, should it be rebooted before flashing the 2nd file? Lastly Was your reset done directly with the CWM Factory Reset? I'll probably test these myself while waiting to see if anyone has a solution.

Don't ever just format stuff for the hell of it. Lol. It's I firmware. I didn't know how many of you were on I firmware. I've got a fix bitch just need someone test it for me.

I'm not sure which firmware I'm working on (it's my gf's phone) but I'll check when I see her again in ~11 hours from now. If I have the right firmware and no one else has offered to test, I'll be happy to.

Also, I tried it again following the steps I outlined above, but instead formatted the SD card with both partitions as logical instead of primary, and also rebooted inbetween flashing the recovery and boot images. No difference, still shows 1.27 GB internal after factory reset.

I'm one of those guys who learns through trial error, if something won't work one way I try it every other way to. When you made the comment on IRC about me still having superuser after formatting, it just made me wonder, there are just so many degrees and methods of formatting, I like to be sure I've done it right. Sorry if I come across as a bit dumb but this is the first phone I've modded since way when the Evo 4G was new. I'm currently running everything rooted "i" stock, with my 64GB SD partitioned with first half 52GB fat32 and 2nd 12GB ext4, I use the phone to execute the steps as much as possible since ADB isn't something I use other than to achieve root, I'm willing and able to do whatever I need to the phone to get this patch to work, so if I can't catch up with you on IRC could you just PM me the specific steps and which files to get this work. If it works I can let you know & post it here. If possible just try and be specific with the methods such as doing the reset from CWM or via power vol down, etc... I do really appreciate all the work you're doing and that of those who've assisted.

Just a side note: I've been doing the factory reset and flashing the zip files while in CWM, could that be why it's giving me issues?

Screen shot not posting, but it looks like recovery broken now, can't boot into recovery but other then that all looks ok jus gotta figure what up with recovery now

I have a 64 gig sd card what is the recomended partition size for ext4 and fat 32,,one question if the sd goes bad can the phone reboot into recovery ?

Would anyone who's successfully done this kindly post an idiot's guide? Like step-by-step instructions on what they did and how? For example, pressy4pie says to flash the two files he's created, but if you're new to this like I am, you might have spent a few hours looking up how to flash on the F6, trying ROM Manager only to find out it's not compatible with this phone, trying to figure out ADB/SDK, etc.

Well I'm far from an expert, and haven't had any success, but if you're rooted and boot into clockwork recovery you have an option to install from .zip, then just select the location you have the files.

Is the difference betweent Tmobile and MetroPCS is the firmware?

Maybe all of us on MetroPCS 'I' firmware can't get this to work because it needs to be on TMobile 'E' firmware?

Appreciate that. But how are you booting into clockwork recovery? I downloaded ROM Manager and ran it, but I got to a point where I had to tell it what phone I was using and the F6 wasn't an option.
