Root [MetroPCS] [ROM][F6] Xperion ROM **Updated 2/11/2015**

Thanks for the reply. I'll just keep it throttled down (or fix my car's a/c) your rom/kernel are too good to uninstall. Thanks again.

I am wondering what page the lastest update is on. You uploaded it a month or so ago. Is it any improved from the 2-11 update or some sort of change log? Basically, is the February update better than the last one? I'm wanting to switch back to this ROM than the one I'm on. Is there a gapps to download also?
A little off topic, are you deving on any other newer metro phone?

Edit: NVM it is the kernal I'm talking about I believe.

Change log can always be found in post #2 of the rom or kernel thread. Gapps is not needed.

I am having quite a few reboots. It shouldn't be the ROM. I've used it before. It happen ROMs. I have twrp I've done full wipes can't understand it. I've turned all vibrations off, but it is vibrating at the moment while typing. I think maybe vibration on boot may be causing it, but not the reason for the problem. I'm just throwing it out there to see who may have a solution.

Accidentally posted in the T-Mobile thread at first...

I have recently had a major issue, and I've decided to basically start from scratch. It's been a long while since I've done anything with android. So I haven't really been aware of many changes since like march. After plenty of experimenting I had installed you most up to date xperion rom, and freedom kernel. I didn't go through the process to set-up my sd card (using the sd hack) as the internal storage, tho I set it up a few time to see if I could do it properly. Anyway I did use something to be able to transfer apps (only some) to the sd card-- I think it was a file GT created called GT_SD_Tweak. It was a zip file. Now I can't find any mention of this on the forum (or great web at all...) but I do still see plenty about the more advanced sd hack and I see you have a small guide to setting up Link2SD on GT's androidcreations site.

I was fine with the tweak only allowing some apps to be moved, but as I don't see this mentioned, should I assume Link2SD or the sd hack or the better way to go now? I had used the hack, and I can understand why that is better in some ways, but I don't like to use it. Previously Link2SD either didn't work, didn't work right, or I another reason I can't remember atm, but as I said I used the GT_SDTweak file. Anyone have input as to why this file isn't used or why Link2SD is better?
I might have tried both by the time there is a reply, but I would love input from a more advanced user with experience, and/or GT especially.

Oh, almost forgot to mention, since starting over I've decided once again to use xperion.

the sd card hack has evolved quite a bit probably since you last used it. There's several different files to use. Carbon ROM and xperion rom are now stable, truly depends on your preference which rom you want to use. The sd hack works perfectly on both. carbon rom only has vibration disabled. Since carbon ROM has proper init.d support now along with this rom, the only files you need are the initd installer of the sd hack, f2fs ondemand (for repairing the sd partition when needed without having to use a terminal emulator) wipe dalvik cache file (wipes the dalvik cache on the sd partition without wiping the whole sd card) and a neat little zip file that lets you change the size of the sd card ext4 and fat32 partitions to anything you want, even after you've installed the hack. You're going to have to look up how to use this file though on the official sd card hack thread.

Thanks very much for all the work you did on this ROM. You did a great job. I feel like I have a brand new phone. The only thing that's still original stock is the case
I don't know if you can make this ROM any better but if you want an idea I was thinking it would be wonderful if you could activate the FM radio chip. The developer of Spirit Radio (over at XDA) told me the Qualcomm FM chip should work with his app but he couldn't support the F6 (no doubt because it's not high end). I tinkered with it a bit but I don't have all the technical skills. Anyway I thought I would throw that out there if you like a challenge LOL. Thanks again!

Thanks all for all the help.
Xperion ROM was working fine for 8 months or so. Then I stored the phone for a couple of months. When I turned it on, I could only see the Xperion logo in the loop. I did the format, factory reset, wiped both caches, system, internal storage and reinstalled the ROM. It seems to have been installed successfully. But after the first reboot, the screen offers me to complete action using Home or Nova Launcher. Funny thing is the UI does not let me choose either of these. After a few seconds, I see either "Activity Android System isn't responding" or "Process system isn't responding", and the phone reboots itself. After reboot, I see the blank screen with status bar on the top with time, signal etc. When I touch the screen, I see the same message again, "Activity Android System isn't responding". Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Guys I don't think the dev is monitoring this thread anymore. The version he has released is final and he moved on to a new phone. I haven't seen him around for quite a while.

There is a list of the phones on his website. http://androidcreations.weebly.com/ No telling what he have now. :D

By the way. I got a new phone. http://www.samsung.com/us/support/owners/product/SM-G360TZWATMB It have a lot more space and better speed. Even though some old games app won't work on this.

I still have the old phone and it still bloatware free. It put up for back up use.

Anyway I hope GameTheory still around browsing or what ever. I don't want him to vanish from the website. Now if it a chick then I'm sorry calling her a him. I don't know this person. lol

Sha Try again on re-installing it. Make sure that you do full wiping first. Look like there something is wrong. Might be corrupted or something somewhere. Re-download it just in case. I didn't have that problem before using his rom. Only thing I did that screw up is getting rid of that Nova Launcher which his rom needed it. Without that Nova Launcher or replacement will cause a problem. New phones got two now. Don't ask me why. I think it is dumb. lol

Does anyone have an issue where their F6 after turning on, within the first 10 minutes or less of being powered on, will sporadically decide to turn off? Like I'm holding the power button, but Im not. Tried clicking home, power, volume, etc, but it will without fail turn off. Now, this only happens occasionally, sometimes the phone boots fine, but sometimes, this happens and it leads to a boot loop more often than not. Any suggestions?

I'd wipe and reflash if I were you serif that helps.

myMetro app doesn't connect. I liked it because it gives me accurate stats on my data usage; plus, it gives me options to change plans, etc.

I just installed this ROM yesterday and noticed my GPS doesn't work. It's enabled and it was working fine in the rooted stock software I was previously using. Navigation doesn't work, and other apps and websites can't find my location. This seems to be the final version of this ROM and the dev doesn't seem to be monitoring this thread, so I was wondering is this a known issue without a workaround, or did I overlook some instructions somewhere? Or am I the only one having this problem?

Did you do a factory reset after you installed katana?

Then let it set for 5 minutes.

After you reboot once try toggeling airplane mode for a minute.

Do a full wipe. Leave your sd card alone though. That is where you need the ROM at for installing. I never had any problem. Just don't remove Nova app and you be fine. :)

Yeah, deffinetly make sure you're wiping you're internal system and not you're ext sd!

Hello and thank you to GameTheory for... well, EVERYTHING. You've saved my phone.

Question for anyone who's available:

I have two persistent problems with this ROM. The time zone simply says the wrong time (PST) no matter which one I choose. It also changes after a few hours even though the settings still say my correct time zone. I've tried setting a fake time zone to match my time but that time changes again after a few hours. I've set the correct time zone in Recovery (TWRP) several times. The only thing I can do, it seems, is manually set the time and check it every once in a while. Seconds will be off though and may cause problems in the future. Help?

I have reset the device twice after clearing dalvik etc. etc in Recovery. No use for both problems.

I will ask my second question below to keep things separate....

2nd problem with ROM:

The brightness level won't stick after reboot. It keeps going to 100% no matter what was set before. Very annoying... and painful! Again I tried resetting to factory defaults a couple of times with no luck.

The only thing that helps a little is installing a screen-overlay app to save my eyes, like Twilight. It colors the screen and sets dimness levels. But this only activates a couple of minutes after reboot when the app starts. Screen is still at 100% until then.

Anyone else? What the heck? Any suggestions?

Hmmmmmm, odd I've ran Xperion when I had my F6 & didn't have these two issues you speak of myself. I would try a full wipe (System, Data, Delvick and reg cashe) reboot from recovery to recovery) especially if you are coming from stock ROM. If you haven't already done any of this already that is. Oh! if you don't already know when one wipes from in recovery and reboots from recovery back into recovery its going to ask you if you want to root your phone, Don't. just hit the swipe button again which is going to reboot you back into recovery for a fresh start. Newer TWRP versions such as 3.0.0.-1 don't ask you if you want to root. I'm not sure if what TWRP version you're on as far as if there's been any TWRP built updates for the F6. I hope this info helps [emoji16]
