Could you explain what "apn" and "dun" mean?
Go to system settings/ mobile network / access point names (apn) create new name it Metropcs_LTE ( that's how named her) apn should be all same but in the apn types add dun at the end

Edit- apn protocol and rooming make it IPV4 if they are v6

This method stops working after reaching the 6GB mobile hotspot cap on MetroCPS.
If it stopped working it is only because you are not using a user agent switcher on the device you are tethering. If you are tethering anything other than a phone or tablet (like a pc) you have to use a user agent switcher or else your carrier will be able to tell that you are tethering and will throttle you once you reach the limit.

It does not stop working... @ 6g.. This will let you tether through with no issues @ all

hey guys actually... i have metropcs and have been tethering using the lg f6 for over a year now using wifi-tether... the other day i got a message from metropcs saying.."you have 10% left of your hotspot data left, $5 to top off"..... i then tested it out by using only my other android and guess what..... 10 minutes later i receive a message saying you have used all of your mobile hotspot data..... apparently metropcs is able to detect that im using a wifi tether even if its another android..... i even called metro pcs to inquire but here is where it gets strange... they said that they do not see that i have used any of my hot spot usage??? whats going on... and the speed of my wifi tether has gone down significantly. any suggestions?

Yes, use a different unlocked phone lg has something in the build prop that monitors tethering. I used an f6 last year on tmobile metro branded and even with GT's custom rom it still was monitored on my tether usage. So i swapped to using cwm tether exclusivly

are you saying that i should get a non lg branded phone? or just use a different tethering format.... if you recommend getting a different phone... what brand from metro do you recommend that wont break the bank and is easily rooted.
thanks!!

Sound that at ph device you have it set fine... Now what are you using on the pc or laptop end... Cus i knw that after chrome updated to api... The user agents have been broken ... Tell me what browser/ about update are you using and what user agent.... Lets get this fix a.s.a.p

@Krylpumaa

I've used your method for tethering on the unlimited plan for about a year. I routinely use 100+GB of data a month and haven't had any issues. I use wifi Tether and then kill hostapd with 3C toolbox. About 2 months ago, I think when metro added tethering to all plans I ended up not using user agent spoofer and I no longer got the up-sell page. Now this month, I got a text saying I had used all my tethering data and it's been throttled. With the chrome update you're talking about, what do you recommend to use to mask the user agent?

Thanks!

Use the same userAgent I provided in the OP. Make sure that u use either chromevon ubuntu or the IE11 or 9... Now you can use the default in the useragent... No matters if thay hav allow the tether or not... You should always do UA ... I have been using this method for more than 6yrs... No issues @ all... I have 3ph devices running tethering... I connect my server... N work through my teamviewer... N i run over 40-90gb daily in raw data over the air... With no issues... But if you still get. Throttled let me knw... Cus when they say we are paying for unlimited!!! we are gonna have unlimited...!!!

Well you should be out off data for the tehtering bit not for the lte ph itself... So if you tether the correct way you should be good to go anyway... Any issues just let me knw.

Okay, so I'm having a weird experience.

Since I got the text notifying me I would be throttled, I went back to using the useragent but it was still only getting 125k. I decided to try and "top up" another gig for $5 to see if that would reset it. It was still showing throttled, whether I used this method or went through the standard mobile hotspot. I called them and asked if it took some time to "un-throttle" and they said no, it should be instant and added another gig at no cost, just in case. Still throttled. I called back and they said I hadn't used any of my tethering data, so the useragent method was working.

Where it gets really weird is if I use my browser I get 125k, but if I go to speedtest, it shows 8Mb/s down and .8Mb/s up. When I try and go to other websites, it goes back to 125k.

Any suggestions? I'm using chrome on a mac and the user agent spoof is definitely working because I'm constantly getting websites telling me the browser is no longer supported. The spoof I'm using is IE9.

Thanks!

What i can say first make sure you have the latest chrome. Use the user agent with the default settings make sure that ur apn are set to ipv4v6 both cus if you have it on v4 or v6 it will try to go to lte.band12 which is blaww they are trying to push band.
Get lte discovery app to see which band are you in. Take a screen shot n post it
