Hi i have samsung galaxy avant ive tried everything you said even tried running wlan0 through tun0 im still getting throttle on my hotspot and im connecting it only to my xbox one if you could help please let me know. Ive use wifi tether router everything my phones rooted also

You're saying that you are on wifi tether router or wifi.tether.apk they are different, and settings arr different.

I found a way to get 5 bars of 4G LTE. Following the same instructions to edit settings.db I change the providernetworksettings value from 1 to 0 then started flying. I'm in Miami, FL works great for me. With speedtest.net app I'm getting 25 MB per second download speeds.. Not sure if will work for others but worth a try..
I have a couple of quick questions.
(1) What is the best WiFi tether app for each of the following ROMs : Xperion, Carbon, CM11 and PacPort? --- Which is the best ROM to WiFi tether from?
(2) How to avoid using up data/mobile hotspot text?
Devices used: 2 SmartTVs, Xbox360, Metro Smartphone (no service) and a visualland tablet. (Tablet sucks, kinda understand it.)
See my issues run month to month. This is what I do. Forever the fattin mobile hotspot widget has worked flawless in the past. This past month ( has happened a couple times in the past couple years while owning these phones) I will get the message and after it has got the final "you have used up all your data" message I can only run Netflix on 2 separate smart TV's at full speed. On SmartTV #1 - web browser, YouTube, LG app store, mainly anything but Netflix, loads, but to slow to be functional.
Xbox360: everything connects to WiFi all the way through, but same thing happens, except on this device Netflix buffers every 2 min Can't update game ect. Basically WiFi useless.
Tablet: Explained earlier, its a POS!
Metro Smartphone (Fierce 2): Same as Xbox360, but at random. It works when it wants to.
SmartTV #2: Just got today. Netflix works fine, but that's the only thing I've tried.
Things I've done around time of messages. Installed new ROMs, set the WiFi up from open to passworded. I've heard that the widget only works if open. I know consequences of open connections. Also, I know - Why use phone for all that instead of internet service provider - I don't have one at the moment. As mentioned above the hotspot widget has been my go to WiFi tether app for a while and even success with different brands/models.
Why am I going through all this one might ask; answer is basically - My 11 yr old son.'
I appreciate all advice and hopefully answers. I'm asking for a lot I know, but maybe, just maybe someone has some Insight and/or answers/directions.

Let me say that if you are on the f6 u should use Carbon Rom... Even though youhave to go tru the process of getting it ready.. You do not need a external tethering app
Wifi.tether.apk 3.3.2 beta... For the xperion. Or the system.database tweak for the km.mini...
Now if you can spend $2.99 do so n use wifi.tether.router from playstore..
Go tru the app setting get it going... You should be good to go.
A lot of ppl are having issues with the signal... Some of them has been because when thay used the 3cTools they have disabled the app n the wifi.tether.bin so even though it connects eventually it shutsdown..By the tasker.... Plus this band12 issues. Its driving every body crazy... The only way i have been able to correct that in some of my devices has been by toggling data off on so it can go back to band4 ( band12 its givin 2-10mb)(band4 its 20-68mb up to 84mb in some areas)
I knw that the wifi.tether i posted.. Its not been support due to owners life have changed...
Im still using the app in the f6 i got from a friend n son its using it... Now to be honest i dont do gaming... So dont knw about xbox.. I knw some one have been able to tether to it has been using a VPN on theyr ph... As for me i use HOLA.VPN from playstore... But in my other devices i use wifi.tether.router... I still need to use UserAgent switcher on my pc/laptop. Im good to go in my bluray dvdplayer i can connect fine same in my smarts.tv, NookColor encore with CM.10.2 , my server n my macpro. So it a matter of been patients.

hey man, I apologize i haven't been active on here... I still have the same issue as before with my Optimum f6... i have stock rom... i have all settings per the guide for tethering... however like other people here I still get a message every month saying that i have used my 4g tethering limit. I call metropcs and they say i havent used any of my tethering limit.... strange that this is happening. please help... i really want my 4g back! lol.

So if you are able to tether... Always same speed. N still get popup noti. That means you guys are just getting automated noti. That's all if you want just look for the stock host.app in the system.settings/apps n clear cache n data.

Your welcome...I dont think so... If your maintain @ same speed. Its just a bluff msg. You can test by running tether n do a speed test on ph while tethering specially video or movie... If speed test give you more that 9mps you are good to go.

Ok give me a week to get this issues solves.
The text message that I receive says that I have used all of my 4g speeds... when this happens; Everything throttles to 2g speeds... Browser, videos, apps, streaming... "everything" .... But like I said.. when you call metropcs they don't see that we have used any 4g tethering.... I also attempted using the stock mobile hot spot on my phone after receiving the text ... it goes even slower.

Southtown here. Wanted to update with potential workarounds for people, as well as update on new developments for LG Optimus F6 Metro PCS users.
First, my stats.
(LGMS500) LG Optimus F6 (purchased at MetroPCS)
Running: Android 4.1.2
Software Version: MS50012b
Stock Rom (rooted)
Tethering:
WiFi Tether.apk
3C Toolbox
Easy Tether Pro (latest app I found that served as a workaround to MetroPCS's 6GB tether limit, no longer working, details below)

So, what does all this mean?
If you're using MetroPCS service, as of today, WiFi tether/3C toolbox only works until 6GB tether limit. Afterwards, you're throttled unless you use a VPN. Easy Tether Pro may still work for you for a while. If it stops working, you can try dropping your speed to 4G, but this workaround is no longer working for me as of today. However, I have used well over 6GB of data, so you may still get some usage before it finally throttles you out.
I'm currently getting 15Kb/s on MetroPCS. I've been throttled the hell out. However, I get 1.6 MB/s on speedtest app. I may use VPN to speed things up a bit, but I only get around 220 Kb/s, and I'm not 100% trusting of these free VPNs.
By the way, user agent on Firefox and/or Chrome gives me about 80kb/s only.
If anyone knows of a workaround, I'm all ears. In the meantime, bravo to MetroPCS. They've finally successfully shut down the game for some of us.

Quick Breakdown of history:
- Originally used Windows 7, Firefox, user agent switcher w/WiFi tether on LG Esteem. Average speeds, 2.5 MB/s.
- WiFi antennae died, so purchased LG Optimus F6. LG Optimus F6 didn't work with w/WiFi tether, so used OP's methods on page one. Worked like a charm with user agent switcher in Firefox, however speeds dropped. Average speeds, 1.5 MB/s.
- Switched to Linux Mint. No longer needed to use user agent switcher, although continued using WiFi tether/3C toolbox as instructed to tether. Worked fine for year+. Life is good. Average speeds, 1.5 MB/s.
- 2+ months ago(?) I got a message that I had 10% of my mobile hotspot remaining. 30 minutes later, my tether speed dropped to around 60Kb/s. Used a VPN, speeds increased to 300 Kb/s. Settled, but wanted faster speeds.
- Researched. Found an app called Easy Tether Pro. Installed. Average speeds increased to 4.5 - 5 MB/s. Fastest speeds ever. Sometimes connection intermittent though. Why are speeds so fast? Maybe because using USB tethering, not sure. Life is better. At this point, stopped using WiFi tether.apk/3C toolbox. Both apps useless w/new MetroPCS tether block after 6GB limit.
- Next billing cycle, got 6GB tether message again. Speeds dropped to 35Kb/s. Easy Tether Pro worked, until reached 40-50 GB for month. Noticed speeds would drop during the day to 150kb/s. Would speed up in late hours of the night. I figured I must have been prioritized lower. Changed APN settings per website, no change. Used VPN to speed up a bit. 200-300Kb/s. Just a bit better.
- Found a great suggestion on site about 4G speeds being faster than 4G LTE when throttled. While still using Easy Tether Pro, went to Settings>Tethering & Networks>Mobile Networks>Network mode. Dropped to 4G speeds instead of 4G LTE. Speeds now increased to 1.5 MB/s. (interestingly, these are same speeds I got before using Easy Tether Pro app. Is this a built-in WiFi/tether limit or am I not getting true LTE speeds without Easy Tether Pro?) Anyway, life is good again, don't need a VPN. Satisfied w/these speeds vs throttled speeds.
- Next billing cycle, got 6GB tether message again. Dropped to 4G, speeds remained at 1.5MB/s. Got message again, speeds dropped to 30kb/s. Easy Tether Pro workaround no longer working. Used VPN, speeds increased to 225kb/s.
So, what does all this mean?

Not as much good info as southtown as I am completely new to MetroPCS. First month ever used. I am using Carbon ROM (Android 4.4.4) with its mobile hotspot. Was using a user agent with PC.
I was getting around 10MB/s on my iPod and other phone until 6GB (received message), then I would still show 9-10 MB/s on speedtest on the other phone and iPod. However, as stated previously, the streaming apps or chrome/safari would not load at those speeds shown on speedtest.
That's all I got.

Ok guys... After long road.trip work... Back @ hm.... Bit with not too good news for thos on f6 on stock.rom. your issues of sometime having signal drops n catches on Tethering its due to wifi.tether.apk its has been drop by developer... So string its not life no more... With the UserAgents so your issues its more likely that ua need a better UA from the internet.. Now some has report to me that by using IE.10 or chrome with UA of chrome on ubuntu has work for them...... Or i can recomend to just DL. Wifi.tether.router from play store just pay 2.99 and be able to tether with no issues... That way you are supporting your Developers... Plus instead of having signal drops, slow speeds, y@ll are able to enjoy your tethering...
Thanks for getting back to us... So just to clarify, if I download wifi tether from play store I won't have any issues with a 6gb throttle? Also would I still need to stop hostapad with task manager using this app or are there any other specifics on this app I would need to follow on the f6?

First its wifi.tether.router....
And No issues with the 8gb throttle... Also you don't need to kill hostapd at all... Im still looking for a work aroud for you guys on f6... Hav been out of that ph for the past 4 months... I do have my cousin with wifi.tether.apk. running old set-up.. N he does not any issues @ all... 1 time mpcs sent him a msg of him using all his data... But when he changed UA everything was Back to normal....
I know its the wrong thread but my eyes are bleeding from reading so much.
What rom setup if any can i use on a F60? I'm on metropcs with kk 4.4.2 and they screwed the vpn feature as you cannot use native app and hotspot will not function with vpn app.
I'm rooted but not carrier unlocked and i think the unlocked thing is screwing us up maybe.
