Root [MetroPCS] Tethering for MPCS.F6....!!! All Roms **VIDEO for stock only** UPDATED 12-02-14

Thank you for this helpful guide to using wifi tether! It works great but im having one little problem. When I connect my xbox 360 to xbox live it says NAT error and it tells me to enable UPnP or open port 3074. I cant find either one of these options and im a bit confused because I used to use wifi tether all the time on my Motorola photon 4g(sprint) for xbox live. It worked the last time I used it and didn't give me any error messages. Do you have any idea what might be causing this error or know of any way to fix it?

if i were to pay for tethering, will i be able to tether to my gaming console and stream netflix and all that good stuff?
The problem with paying for tethering with metropcs is that you cant get it on the $60 unlimited plan. The only plan you can get it with only includes 2.5GB of 4Glte data.

Just so everyone knows, Foxfi also gives you unlimited use of your mobile hotspot on your Optimus F6 and doesn't require any permissions or settings to be changed or any tasks to be killed. It also works with or without root. It has worked great for everything I have used it for other than connecting to Xbox Live(I don't know if it will work for other gaming consoles because Xbox 360 is all I have). Foxfi is free in the play store and it costs $7.99 for the Key to unlock full use of the app.

Just tried this out. It works for internet explorer, chrome still requires a user agent and tethering to PS3 doesn't work

I registered so I can thank you OP for usefulness of your work. For me everything is working perfectly as I am already on 3 month of Unlimited $80 plan with T-Mobile and tethering about 300 Gb every month.

My configuration is the same as OP on phone side. On laptop/desktop side I am using fiddler. It's a neat program to spoof the user agent headers sent to carrier. Anyway I found it to be much easier than messing with VPNs or installing user agent for every browser I use. I configured fiddler according to this www[dot]forum[dot]xda-developers[dot]com/showthread[dot]php?t=2493675&page=3

For everybody to knw and understand. OP is not a person. Its Owners Post.... that's me.
Reason why u need user agent is because Google has partnered with phone companies to limit tethering.
Something that they can not really stop cus Android is an Opensource software.
The only difference between Chrome nd internet explorer. Is that Chrome us HTML5 in their engine. And IE use silverlight.
Its many way to tether (paid or unpaid)
VPN has been the most successful for LG phones in tethering for game consoles.
Adn LG has put in ways to limit tethering.
for me i hav been using wifi-Tether since they starting developing.
The other app is CWM-Tether. (Usb)
It is true that if u pay for tether with metro or T-Mo. U are only gonna get just a bit amount of LTE data the rest wll b at a 4G speed. Been there done that.
Lets get focus. In the goal.
** been able to tether at the highest speed
** tether to your game consoles for those whom like gaming.
And by the way the only wifi-tether that works with our phone is yhe one posted in the OP Guide.
And CWM-tether or foxfi.
Thank you all for reading, listening and trying to ship in.

So I just got a VPN service and the company has an android app. If I use the app and then tether then any data coming from my phone is encrypted, correct? So I should be able to use my laptop and chrome without any user agent, correct?

I don't want to get banned from my cell phone service company.

Which its your ph comp.?
And u probably gonna need the UserAgent for chrome. . Not sure

I hav2 say that i personally do not use VPN cuz is mostly been used for gaming. All i do is wifi.tether, so i cannot give a straight up answer.

I am using AIO/Cricket wireless which runs on ATT network. I usually use VPN app on open wifi networks to be safe. I thought possibly it would work by PC Chrome -> F6 -> VPN app -> AIO internet. Since encrypted would AIO still tell that there I am using Chrome on PC?

BTW your mod works perfectly.

Well good to knw that my guide worked for AIO too,
Somehow ur configuration is still not able to bridge over, if thats what u saying. I hav knw that u still need a UserAgent for it to bridge.
What exactly is that u want to do?
How far u have go?

This worked for a friend a few weeks back using just the Google Tether App mentioned in the first post. Didn't have to change anything else.

Under settings:

Device Profile = Generic ICS/JB (wlan0)
Setup method = Native Framework Tether
SSID is something like: tetherfallback in the phones built-in tether function
Select Channel = Channel 01
Change Lan = 192.168.2.0/24
Routing Fix "check"
Vibrate on connect "check"
Disable Wake-Lok "check"
