Root [MetroPCS] Tethering for MPCS.F6....!!! All Roms **VIDEO for stock only** UPDATED 12-02-14

I was just reading a post on the lg optimus forum. It talked about how Metro can cancel your account for tethering. Just curious if anybody has heard of anyone having this happened to them. The reason I ask is because I just recently cancelled my service with my ISP and have gone from using about 500 megabytes a month to use in about 20 gigabytes in the last couple weeks.
 
hello.. i am trying to get my tether working.. i have 12b rooted with towelroot running xperion rom and freedom kernel.. i have benn frying and trying.. the showlog on wifi tether is all good no errors but when i go to look for hostapd in tuner pro it is nowhere to be seen, and yes i am showing kernel files. also i cannot open my hostapd with sqlite for some reason.. is it possible i have a corrupted file? if so where can i find the stock one to fix? or will i have to flash? i know a lot of questions but thx for ur time
 
ok well for whatever reason i tried to turn wifi on.. well it dorsnt stay on so got to be a problem with the hostapd file.. hence the prob opening it So my next question does anyone have a copy of this file i could have? before i go wiping :/ gonna try to fix

no, but i did rename it to a backup at one point but never changed anything other than that.. not sure when it stopped working i never use it.. just trying to get my new tablet connected so i came upon this

[Just chiming in here...] Why would you rename a system/kernel file??
 
silly huh.. alas wifi is orking again but i am still unable to change permissions needed in the steps.. is this maybe why i cant see it running?.. and if so why am i unable to modify those permission when i can change read/write

I never changed the permissons and i tether just fine :P
 
after reading about all the different ways to tether,heck i dont know which to try,lol heres a question for you guys,if im already paying for the tethering is there away to checkout the posts on free tethering without cancelling it? by the way like couple of the other posts,i sure miss my lg esteem,i belive they built that phone to tether but forgot to install the system app lol,it was so simple with the esteem.thanks to all that have helped in this post of tethering !!!!!! by the way which is the easiest way to tether (so many diff options ive read , plus can it been done meaning to tether for free ,cause im on the paying tether but dnt wont to cancell it yet until i figure wat method to use,if i cancel,i wont have any service for my tablets or computers. thanks again to all that helped!!!!!

Yes, you can use the alternate methods of tethering if you have the paid version.

Android natively supports tethering. MetroPCS puts an authentication program on top of that making it verify, then allow it.

I got tethering working in a very simple way.

Requires root, and a way to edit build.prop not sure if it will work on your rom, I'm using it on cyanogenmod11.

Well i can just say that,,,Yes alternate tethering. The only difference is that the paid option only gives you 2.5g LTE of data after that is @ 4g speed while ours is unlimited,
It's no need to change permissions, that was a testing way to tether to game consoles .
Only by killing hostapd in Android tuner allows you to connect.
I want to say i hav been disconnected for a while trying a different Roms n tweaking.
 
The tethering method described here works so far with my tablet connected to T-Mobile network on Metro PCS LG F6. Question: anyone able to get MLB At Bat 2014 on the tablet when connected via tether? I tried downloading from Play Store when tethered and also sideload working APK off the phone to no available. The season is winding down, but it would be nice to get the access on the tablet as well.

T-Mobile network devices get MLB At Bat 2014 for free without paying for the subscription, in case you are not aware. You get to have live audiocast and video highlight replay, just not in-progress games unless it's the game of the day (freebie).

How does this work [getting premium features of MLB At Bat for free] with T-Mobile? I have never heard of this before?
