Just freshly installed MikG Rom, and my screen is still unresponsive about a quarter inch in all along the right side. **** this EVO phone. This a refurb insurance provided from when I broke my phone about 2 months or so ago. I wonder what I can do. It worked fine, then messed up, then worked again for a few weeks, now the dead spot again as of 2 days ago. I read it can be everything from charger problems to the ROM to the orbital rotation of Mars. No one can give a concrete answer. Yay internet.
Should I turn this phone in? Is it possible that the screen is just dead there off and on? Or is it truly software related? How can I troubleshoot? My 2 other older EVOs never did thisThis is my 3rd one. Also, I need to find a way to unroot it if I need a tech to look at it.
The only way to verify a phone is a refurb is to activate it and check via dialer codes
Just because it was in a replacement box does not mean it is refurb.
Keep in mind also that with tep...if you get a replacement that is bunk twice you can ask for a new one
Not singling you out but it baffles me why someone would keep a defective phone verses a working replacement
See the following quoted post as to Sprint Policy, I think you should ask for a new phone!

I'd have to agree with everybody that it's hardware related, mikg is a pretty solid rom. When this happens have you tried to (having a memory lapse atm for the word) shut off the screen and reopen the phone? I've had odd issues here and there on different roms with unresponsiveness and have noticed this would fix it. Granted only temporarily, but it allows me to finish whatever I was up to.
Also if you were to flash a stock Sprint rom (rooted version of course ) does it still behave the same way?
There are rooted stock roms out there, I would just have to link one for you.Uh, "shut off the screen"? What do you mean? I've tried reinstalling several times, full wipes, battery pulls, so I'm not sure what you mean.
I would also LOVE to flash a stock ROM to it to see if it would fix it, but probably would go unrooted, I don't want to have to reroot it. Not to mention I'm working 20 hours of OT this weekend, and can't make it to the Sprint store until Monday if I wanted to see if they could do anything.

You can't flash a rom while unrooted![]()
Well there you go![]()
Confirmed it's the screen. That explains everything then. I thought it was MikG but it's not. It has frozen here and there, but with proper wiping, and a maint script I found, I should be ok once I address my phone.
The next step is, I've had this phone for almost 2 months now. Asurion sent a bogus phone. I think dealing with them is a nightmare, and a.) I'm not paying another deductible to get a replacement phone for their shitty replacement phone, and b.) I don't feel like talking to high school drop outs who don't care about customer service.
Hopefully I can go into the Sprint store with a repair center and either negotiate a new phone or some kind of repair. I don't feel I owe anything to anyone, considering I paid the $100 deducitble for a phone that's going to crap 2 months later a la screen. Anyone know how this works?
I didn't like the Deck ROM at all. I'll stick with MikG. Anyone have any other suggestions for stable, popular ROMS I could mess with?
