Root Minutes Checker: Virgin Mobile

I rooted last week, and am running MiRaGe 01292013 (which happily seems not to freeze-up on my phone, like BACKside-IHO-VM670-05022012). Since rooting, the "Minutes Checker: Virgin Mobile" app by Jay Goel fails, reporting:
Could not retrieve your usage information. Make sure you have a connection and that your username and password are correct.

Dunno if the problem is my phone, the app, or VM. There is another thread on the topic that just started today:
Android Forums > Android Carriers > Virgin Mobile > Virgin Mobile Minute Checker app no worky!

Any idea how I can get this app working again?

Anybody know of an alternative?

By the way, I recently changed my password at VM. I think it was new that they require a "challenge question", which I answered. If Minutes Checker is working for you, you might want to think twice about changing your password.

MNWaterbug: Did the app start working for you? I haven't had any problems and the app has not been updated in a long time. Since you changed passwords you have to go back into the settings for the app and give it your new login / password combo and all should be well.

Sadly, the same login (phone #) and password that work on virginmobileusa.com still fail on the phone. But I'm not giving up hope!
 
OK, here's more information on this problem. The wife & I have had VM for 2 years and minute checker doesn't work for either of our accounts. But it does work (on my phone) for my friend's 1.5 year old account. FWIW.
 
Good find and it is working for me again...YEAH...But, the date format is driving me Nucking Futs. Must be an OCD thing or something.

I have the program decompiled already, if I could find the date stuff, I "might" be able to fix this issue myself.

Never hurts to try anyway. :D If you know where this particular piece of info might be located, please let me know. Thanks.
 
Has the app stopped updating for anyone else? I got the unofficial update from xda a few months ago and it worked until now. Now my month just ended and the app is still showing minutes used from the previous month.
 
Seems like author has not updated the app for a while.

I have started working on my own version. It is in google's play store under name "Virgin Mobile Minutes" (it has "V" and "m" letters in logo). It is free for everyone to enjoy. It is missing a widget for now - I will add it soon.
 
Do you think it's possible to include data usage? I'll check out the app once it gets a widget. Thanks!

Not sure what data usage you are talking about. I tried to find it on Virgin Mobile site but they do no provide that info. This would have to be counted and reset by the app itself.

Some users are seeing the data used on the website others are not. I do see it. It's under the account history section where you see your minutes used etc. This is a recent addition since they have acquired the ability to track data usage to enforce the throttling policy.

By the way, great work on the app! Just downloaded it. Looks nice and works great! Thanks for the work!
 
The data usage info has been there for about two years, maybe longer. It was added when they implemented the 2.5GB cap, or shortly after.

I appreciate the effort you've gone to to write this app.

It doesn't work for me. I'm on Beyond Talk. I logged in with my phone number and password and it gives the screen with the blank data (including the phone number). At the bottom it says 'not updated'. I hit the refresh button and it opens a secure connection, but doesn't update the settings.

The revised Virgin Mobile minutes mentioned upthread does work for me.

I'm on a rooted LG Optimus V running Android 2.21.

Any suggestions?
 
I am working on "Virgin Mobile Minutes" and trying to fix any reported bugs (please send me an email) every couple of days. Newest version should be working fine - I think
 
graboszczak, thanks for the great app. Haven't noticed any bugs personally.

The only improvement I can think of is an option to change what appears during a call. I liked how the original minutes app just told you how many minutes you have remaining. At that moment I'm not concerned about anything else. It would be nice to have an option cut down on the information displayed.

Not much of an annoyance to me, but figured I'd suggest it.

Also, I've been waiting a long time to have data usage added to a minutes app. I think you're the first to do so. Thanks a ton!
