"Missing Droid X Real-World Give-Away" Contest (1st Post:Updated)

Looks to be the case. If you do a maps search for the city, then for verizon it will get you within 2 miles of each of the claimed X's so far. Using that method, the closest "sponsored link" verizon store seems to be pretty close. I guess we'll see tomorrow if that works out to be true.

Here are my predictions where a few will be found, within a 2 mile radius from that address.

#7 Seattle-
1633 6th Ave
Seattle, WA 98101

#18 Minneapolis-
800 Nicollet Mall #10
Minneapolis, MN 55402

#17 Detroit-
300 Renaissance Center
Detroit, MI 48243

#6 Orlando-
3742 East Colonial Drive
Orlando, FL 32803

And seeing how I've never actually been to any of those cities, I could be waaayyy off too. Anybody in these areas have an idea of something well known around these locations?
im not sure about the orlando quote, theres a coliseum of comics nearby, maybe typical nerd hideout so maybe a good spot? and is that a corporate vzw store or franchise? that might matter if your theory proves true.

My big issue right now is where to post up in orlando prior to the tweet. i plan on hanging out at a panera or starbucks and then pounce when the tweet rolls in, where is the best location to camp out lol??!

I would say if you have no other info except for the city, camp out near the center of the city (according to google) and wait for the last clue before the coordinates. that way you should at least be pretty close to where it will be hidden and have some sort of chance.

Also, my theory was based on where the first sponsored link popped up when looking for verizon (the one where the verizon logo pops up next to it), but it looks like if it's in a really big city (LA, NYC) there are more than one.

Another area for orlando possibly?

4697 Millenia Plaza Way
Orlando, FL 32839

If the "nearby Verizon store" thing holds up, then the Dallas one won't be downtown. However, there is a confluence of VZW stores around SMU and Highland Park.

I couldn't say for sure, as I wasn't there, but the NYC one in Google Maps put it right at the end of the pier.
The Boston one put it right outside the Lobster place.
The Chicago one put it inside some unnamed building.
The SF one put it right in front of the theatre.

All of these seem to be exactly where they were found, give or take a couple meters. I'm not sure about the Philly one, I heard it was inside the building, which would make the GPS coordinates off as they were smack in the middle of the stairs leading to the building.

That's wrong. The Boston coords put it at Inter-continental, like a hotel, or something. I searched the coords when I was there for kicks. (after i didn't win of course)

Wow, love the damn warning they give for #3.. So much for anyone who didn't just happen to be in the city right now huh?

nice heads up on #3! i am nowhere near that and am pissed as hell!!!!! no chance unless u live right there. of all place, they pick the mission!?!?

I'd just like to say thanks to all of you who put a lot of hard work into this. I've been following the forum since the beginning, and it makes me sad how poorly this contest is being run.

I've been following #3 the SF one specifically. I do live in the city, however it would take me 15-20 mins by car to get there, if i had one. =/ I wish they would have told us which day the SF would have been, but oh wells.

And seriously, 16th and Mission?

found!

Justin Schaur was fast. Got Droid X designate #3 from the Victoria Theater in San Francisco today at 12:13pm PST. Good going!
I must say that #3 was one of the more poorly handled locations. I was expecting them to give out a day as they have been with some of the others, thus did not expect them to come out with the coordinates today. By doing this, I was even further away from SF than what I'd normally be if I was home (even then, it would have been impossible for me to get there considering I'm 20 mins out and the phone was found in like 10 minutes). And I agree with a terrible choice of placement of the clue. That area highly populated and theres like houses/apartments all over. So if you aren't living there, you pretty much had NO chance whatsoever, considering no one just "hangs out" in the mission as its mainly a residential area. Well, with this, I'm out.. good luck to everyone else, its been fun.

Boston coords put it there using what?
Google maps put me right in front of the place

It seems my Google Maps does put me at the exact location (the arrow); also show the nearest location with a balloon. Unless I am mistaken... ;)

Decoder.. you are Wrong. Read the rules..... FINALL CLUE OF GPS POSITION. .... FINAL clue is GPS position clue... Quit insulting our intelligence. .

I just read it again and I think they're right. It says "...the final clue of each GPS location for each Certificate will be tweeted at the time it is hidden." Technically, the tweet with the GPS location *is* the GPS location and not a clue. The GPS location is basically them giving everyone the answer as a last resort.
