I was just thinking how cool it would be if someone could port miui over to the ally or have a good theme available for velocity in terminal emulator. if that was possible i would pop a boner or something lol:eek:

Have you seen the themes in Velocity 1.0? Not sure if they're boner worthy but I thought having them written into the scripts was pretty cool :D
 
I have a Meizu M9 theme that is pretty similar to MIUI.

Porting roms isnt very easy and at the current time, having a rom with working radios (cell, wifi, bluetooth) isn't even doable. Hypothetically if all of those were in working order then you would have a full ported rom with no camera to use. Roms built from source will never have camera support.
 
ok thanks, btw has anyone gotten the miui weather apk working on their ally because when i try installing it it says application not installed and when i put it in the system/app/ folder it doesnt do anything.
 
You have to use terminal emulator(on phone) or command prompt(on pc) to push it to /system/app/ or it won't work correctly. Of course, even if you do it that way, there is no guarantee it will work.

LOL...If you're getting boners over themeing, you've got bigger problems than porting miui.

Thee MIUI APP on the market does the same thing. Maybe give that a shot?

how do you do that in terminal, is it the same as pasteing the file there in root explorer?
 
+1 for this thread.

I absolutely love how MIUI looks, and was wondering if it could possibly ever be ported over to the Ally.

I would look into porting myself, but I just don't have the time at the moment. Even a look-alike theme for Velocity, but I just don't know nor have the time to do it (it would probably take me more time to learn about all the porting information that it would be to just ask if anyone would possibly look into it if they already know this information).

Don't get me wrong, I love Velocity 1.0. I customize my phone every once and a while (normally when I get bored of it), but most of the themes for Velocity are cookie cutter builds.
 
Clearly I'm in the minority here but Miui sucks. If I wanted my phone to look like an iphone I would have gotten...the iphone. Just sayin'
 
MIUI is ugly since it looks like the iphone but there are themes to get it away from that. And it has very nice tweaks done. lots of options. and smooth.

I love the look of Miui because it's very minimal -- which is what I've been obsessed with for the past three plus months. Since it's not compatible with the Ally, I'm just sticking with Velocity 1.0 (;
