Root [MOD] Kit Kat

Ive tried all three versions of this mod and all of them have FC even after wiping the cache/dalvik.

Oh and hi everybody lol, loooooong time lurker here :p

yeah, I flashed launcher would never work.... everything else did though
While I'm ignoring the OTA until tomorrow, On my SV, everything (Camera, Google Now, PreBuiltGmsCore, new Hangouts) worked..except the launcher. :p I wonder what's wrong. It will say "Google Search has stopped". I tried doing the root fix, didn't work. :p

The launcher was written for 4.2.2 and up so that's probably why it doesn't work.

:p Also, does MMS work on the Hangouts app for you? On Cricket it'll just say, "Failed to send message." Or "Retrying..."

the launcher doesn't work because our framework is missing a layout element. I did a logcat :)

Its because of our version of sense. Maybe after the supposed 4.2.2 update were getting then it might work

Well I'm still annoyed that Hangouts MMS isn't working. I guess i'll just have to ignore it for now and use kik to send pictures.

i doubt MMS will ever work on this device with hangouts. Unless of course it reads from APNS, if that's the case then a simple apns-conf.xml edit with boosts MMS info should fix it. But i doubt its that simple lol it never is.

Remember, this is a Cricket Wireless device. :p

well then the cricket info lol, the Nexus 5 is a GSM device so odds are hangouts reads from apns-conf.xml. Google a cricket apn and add it in system/etc, be sure to backup your old apns-conf.xml before hand just in case it doesn't work. then reboot

I prefer gsm phones now that I made the switch to T Mobile. It seems easier the cdma

it is and aosp still supports gsm, so if you want a stock android experience or the latest official releases then you can build from AOSP sources. CDMA was dropped from aosp a while back thats why you hear so much about CAF sources on CDMA devices.

Has anyone tried the new updated Google search with the Google Experience builtin from the play store? This might be all that's needed to get the GEL working.

If you're on 4.1+ all you need is the Google search update and the launcher apk for it to work

Nova Launcher Beta, looks a lot like KitKat when you configure it right.

To get the KitKatty themey, opt in to the community! ;) https://plus.google.com/communities/103449253667195874971

Then, on the furthermost right pane, click "Beta Opt in". Sign in with Google credentials, then in the Play Store in a few minutes/after a reboot, you will get a Nova Launcher update! That will be the update to 2.3b! This includes the transparent stat and nav (Root Only) thingy, and KitKat scroll bar. No GNow, but just place the search widget on the desktop.

Framework from our rom version is missing a layout element causing the launcher to crash each time its opened. I have tried the GNow from the 4.4 files and the updated version from the market no matter what i did it was a no go, We don't have the layout elements needs to get it to run. Sadly it seems HTC has strayed far from AOSP with this rom. Like i said before hopefully 4.2.2 will have the layout elements needed, Because the launcher runs just fine on an HTC One which is stock 4.2.2 :)

I KitKat-ified more by removing HTC's ugly lock screen. Yayyyy! Oh also, transparent status bar because Nova Launcher beta supports it !!

I was wondering why I couldn't get the launcher to work. I wish I would have read your post earlier shinru. I spent some time on it...ha ha
