Root {MOD} Settings.apk 'TOOLS' section 9/21/12

number2 formats by it self dont it?

No. I've updated every #2 that's came out without wiping. You don't lose your apps our anything.i use the same install script for my themes. Just re flash your ROM. Could have already done it several times over by now.

Yep it doesn't wipe data just cache

Sent from my typewriter.

hmmm interesting thread.. now only if somehow you could incorporate that flash toggle onto the power widget or something of that nature.. would be pretty bad-ass of you ;) jus sayin LOL

as for suggestions towards more 'tools' uhhhhmmmmmmmmmmm...... howwww abooouuuuuuuuuuuut... uhhhhhhhhhhhh... snack button? or uhhhhhmmmmm something food relatd..? LOL

no but seriously, what would i like to see when i open my settings/tools menu...? hmmmm, well some tools would be good :D i suggested that!!! remember it!!!, putting tools in the 'tools' section was my idea LOL

how bout a link to a built-in android terminal emulator..? dont ask me how im just making a suggestion LOL
.

is there a built in terminal emulator? i mean, i can donwload a very 'lightweight' one and link that one, or maybe link the one inside roomtolbox ;)

how i do that ?

have you ever used UOT kitchen? on the zip they give you you should be able to add the lghiddnemenu.apk inside the app folder (where system.apk) is and flash it. that might work

What system files/apps does it work with? Anything?
i.e. - including ringtones, wallpapers, etc?

It can. If you want to just install system apps put them in the app folder inside the zip. Ringtones? Just make a new folder in the system folder of the zip called media and inside that one make one called ringtones and put your ringtones in the ringtones folder. Want to throw in a bootanimation too? just put it in the media folder.

Install jar or framework? Just make a folder in the system folder named framework and put the jar and framework/res-cap/etc in there.

Fonts? Same deal make a folder called fonts inside the system folder :D

You could link the one inside rt but then you gotta choose free version or paid version. Or make two links, one for each. But that is sloppy.

perhaps just a small terminal emulator may be a better idea from what you're saying.

would any one help trying to find out how to install or flash an app into your system/app that does not show on the app drawer, like the screenshot app that allows us to use the power menu screenshot option? I cant seem to find a proper way to google it. i kinda know the app has to be decompile and some stuff needs to be removed then recompile but dont know the details. And im not talking about hiding the app, but removing the ability of being accessed unless it is called by something, do i make sense?

Funny you say that, i tried everything in my power to install an app without an icon. One way or another i would error out.

I wish you luck on that one. If you try it yourself I'll go ahead and tell you that any of the obvious options to do it don't work. ;)

Haha. J meant don't delete an image and expect the app not to show up. Lol. Obvious right.

Gonna have to dig deep to figure that one out.

i think i found something im going to try tonight in order to have a working app from the settings that does not show on the app drawer.

#2 only formatts cache & system folder, does not format data.. you'll be safe just have to re-apply the new settings mod :D

on a second note.. who do i actually thank/ask for the flashlight mod? i would like to throw that in 2.5 if at all do-able? im not using anything else just the flash light, placed it under system (for personal use untill further notice)

I would thank Fuzzy for the idea (he started it all when he added rom manager to the settings). Then i would thank me for the flashlight and everything else.

edit: i would thank this thread too ;)

HERE is the Settings.apk for ldrifta with the flashlight only located under 'System'.

It has not been tested because I decompiled it from work using 'Logmein'. Give it a try and tell me what you think. and for the curious ones, yes, i leave my laptop on 24/7 .....

because I play runescape :p

well i kinda made my own already :D but i WILL thank you, Fuzz & this thread!! thank YOU sir ;)

Which ROM/Roms does this work with? I'm on #2 v2.1, but it doesn't seem to work.

How are you installing it? Works with any ROM/firmware. Prolly not installing it correctly.

Make sure system/app is Read/Write and then paste the apk. Reboot. Works every time.

Okay, solved it. I had backed up the orginal settings.apk, as settings1.apk. For some reason, I had to remove that from the phone before it the mod took over. Thanks for help.
