moto 360: now or later (thinking out loud)

Horrible app. I got the "yo" back but the link never opened. I suppose thats better than getting the "you won a moto 360" screen and filling out the info only to be told they had all been claimed. Oh well, no loss. Time to uninstall.
 
I can't believe I just installed that app.

So what's the deal? At 11:00 everyone gets a Yo and the first 20 to reply get a 360?

At 11:01 I'll be uninstalling it. I just hope it didn't put some kind of key logger on my phone.

Not sure there is a specific time? It will be soon after 11ct. Just make sure to keep an eye on your phone. I know I will be.

I know, I know, I'm a strong proponent of the 360, but the idea that LG is making a truly ROUND watch without that notch in the bottom for light sensor... that appeals to me. Add to that the rumors that the 360 may not be out until DECEMBER??? NO thank you.

What do you think? Are you still solid on the Moto 360, or has the LG G Watch R shaken your decision at all?

Even if that rumor were true, the LG is supposed to be available Q4. When they don't say something like early or mid before the quarter, it's most likely going to be late Q4, which would be November or December.

Thing the about the LG is, while it may look more watch like than the 360, to me it looks like a cheap sports watch. And it doesn't have the cutout at the bottom of the screen, but I believe that's due to the physical ring around the outside of the screen. I believe the screen is covering the bezels.

Also no mention of an ambient light sensor. Since this watch has come into the news, LG has taken every opportunity to take digs at Motorola, so why wouldn't they also mention if it has an ALS.

Lastly, the screen is 1.3" vs 1.5" on the 360, but you have to factor in the physical ring around the screen and the casing which extends beyond the ring. Something tells me it will be quite a bit bigger than the 360, which was a sticking point for many.

Honestly the cutout really doesn't bother me. It's no different than the people who want a phone's front face to be bezel free. The problem there is what about the earpiece, microphone(s), and sensors? While it would look cool, it's not practical or even technologically achievable at this point.

Glad I checked in. App promptly uninstalled. Such a dumb app and contest...LOL...way to get those multiple installs, only to see quick uninstalls afterwards...hahaha

What would be best for Motorola is to release the damn watch already. That long waiting time is going to bite them in the but with the G Watch R showing quite a nice looking form factor.

I'm not necessarily on the fence, but the G Watch R definitely has me considering purchasing a couple weeks later (assuming it's released on the day of announcement), just so that I will be within the return/exchange timeframe for the G Watch R.

I was perfectly content with my Gear 1, until I recently had to do a warranty replacement with my Note 3 and now...it forced the new update onto my gear, so I don't get to see any of my important emails on the watch (well, at least the preview). Can't wait until I can just rely on Android wear.

I'm mostly intrigued to see what the bluetooth form factor will be.
 
I gotta admit, I uninstalled even before the contest was up. RIDICULOUSLY stupid app. Asks for every permission under the sun. I can't believe I was even tempted to install it. I already have my $250 ready to go for the Moto 360.

Yup. 1/2 of the costs is sitting at home, waiting to be used on the 360. The other 1/2, budgeted accordingly to make sure it'll be no problem. Although, it'd be nice if I could sell my gear, to re-coup even more costs.
 
Any one else find it a little odd we're not getting some leak loving here, just two days before the announcement? The obligatory shot of VZW's inventory number? Anything?
 
I don't, but like you I'm concerned that the rumors have seemed to have lost steam. Like, where did all of our mojo go?
 
That looks nice, but the 360 is head and shoulders over it in the looks department.

I'm a little disappointed in the handling of the "event" today. As it turns out there's nothing being publicly announced today, it's press only. I've been counting down to today for 2-3 weeks now.

The rumor as it stands is that the NDA will be lifted at 1:00 AM CDT and the flood gates of information will be open. There's a Hangout event scheduled for tomorrow afternoon, but honestly, if I know the when and the how much tomorrow morning I don't care much about the Hangout event.

That's the dumbest thing I've heard. They're having a press event today, but holding a NDA until 11pm PDT? Well, doesn't really matter to me, if they make the watch available at 11:01pm PDT. I can just place my order for store pickup at Best Buy and pick it up during lunch tomorrow.
 
I do find it curious. And there is much rage on Twitter and Google+ right now. It was two or three weeks ago that the 9/4 date became public. This is a HOTLY anticipated device amongst the tech crowd. Then the morning of the event it's announced that's it press only? All of the rage and weirdness could have been eliminated on the Moto360 website. Just update the "It's time..." logo with "09/05/2014."

Of course there are people that are over the top, rage quitting Motorola because of this, and I'm sure that they'll still have a 360 on their wrist the as soon as possible. But it was a bit of a disappointment to be handled the way it was.

So instead of a big event that could have been a media free for all, the NDA will quietly expire in the middle of the night and we'll all wake up to news in the morning. It's a bit anti-climactic. But ultimately I don't care. I love the look of the device and have planned on buying one since I saw it.

They're not announcing the products to the public until 11:30a tomorrow? The Moto 360 better be worth all this waiting. They officially announced the darn thing back in March!...hahaha...If I can't zip into my local Best Buy to purchase the darn thing tomorrow, then I may just give the G Watch R a closer look. Maybe even the Asus (outside chance, really, as I'm not really sold on the look).

More like 2:30pm tomorrow!...Motorola is failing big time with how they're handling all of this.
 
Yeah, to add to the confusion, the NDA for the people at the press conference today expires 1:00 AM CDT. Then there is a Hangout event scheduled for 1:30 PM CDT.

From the gist of what I got on Twitter and Google+ today, we'll have a LOT of details after then NDA lifts.

Oh I hate it. But I REALLY want this device. I've just had the wind taken out of my sails a few times with it now.

It kinda doesn't surprise me with the sale to Lenovo, I'm sure there's still a bit of disorganization and chaos going on. Ultimately, the 360 just better be worth all of the waiting since the March announcement. For the general consumer, they won't know the difference, but to the tech fanatics like ourselves, this has been one of the worst delayed launches in quite some time.
