Motorola and Verizon just slapped us!

Nope...I don't buy into that at all! The Razr is better packaged and way better built with time and detail given to the build quality. Not to mention it has an amazing screen on board! They were designed way way to close to each other. Plans could have been scrapped on the Bionic, and moto could have said we're building you (VZW) a better more defined product that you and most of your customers will like very much...Which would have been the Razr....I'm sorry there is no way I will ever see the point or understand 2 high end Flagship DROIDS dropping from the same manufacturer within the time frame of these 2 phones...One word rings a bell,,,,

I switched to verizon and android after having iPhone and AT&T for 2 yrs. No plan or interest in going back to iphones but my main reason for the switch was AT&T's reception and I wanted the Samsung Galaxy S2 and Verizon's coverage inclding LTE. The Droid Charge I bought 'cos the unlimited plan ended July 6 and I had to get a phone that day to be granfathered in. I was really having issues with the Charge to warrant a change. Now the switch to Bionic was so so for me but after playing with it and configuring it for almost 3 weeks, I am actually okay with the phone. However, the release of razr and Galaxy Nexus changed everything. I want a phone for the next 18 months without worrying about whether I will get ICS or the best phone. I think G Nexus satisfies my appetite for the next 18 months. It's as close to SGS2 on verizon as I can get and will have the latest Android OS. Since I have used up my 90 day exchange at Costco, I will sell the Bionic and pay the diff. I have not received the costco accessory bundle yet but will not open or use it when I do. With the Bionic AND the bundle together as a package, I think I should get a pretty good price on selling the phone on eBay or CL. After I get the G Nexus, I am done and no longer interested with whatever comes out until 2013.
If that were to have happened I may have not even jumped on the RAZR. And then VZW would have lost potential customers. The RAZR doesn't interest every Bionic user. If Moto hadn't release the Bionic who's to say what will happen to those that did buy it now. Not everyone is gonna jump on the RAZR because they decided to replace it with the Bionic. Most of us were waiting for the Bionic and scrapping it would have caused people to turn away. Yes they were released too close but oh well.
What I believe VZW or Moto should do is the same thing Apple did with the buyback so customers don't feel burned.

Who cares about the Razr, I will get the latest phone when my contract is up in two years. Who cares what is coming. And there is one thing I am 100% sure of, people will be complaining about the RAZR. What a joke the phone community has become, a bunch of whinners.
I got my Bionic and I am happy. I'm a winner. LOL

Of course have all heard about the the Razr coming early next month and it does look pretty sweet. I just got my Bionic in September and it looks like with the announcement of the Ice Cream Ios coming to Razr before any other phone that Moto has already forgotten about the Bionic in less then two month just like they did with the OG droid. I am currently shopping around to get rid of my Bionic just so that I can get the new Razr since I think this is phone that Moto will be concentrating on for a little while. My question is why did Moto wait for so long for the Bionic to come out and then turn around in less then two months and bring out a better phone? Why not scrap the Bionic and come out with the Razr?

Can't wait until the Razr comes out and we can read all the complaints about the poor battery life.
If moto can get the BSOD and the data drop issues corrected woth the early November update, I will be 100% satisfied with my Bionic.

Eh the Razr is not that much better than the Bionic. It's a bit better with the screen and casing but mostly it's very similar. Not sure I'd go for another motoblur (or whatever they're calling it now) device though, I love my Bionic but it has been fairly buggy. I've had some random restarts and random deleting of apps and weird "out of memory" errors when it says I have 3 GB of app space left WTF? I think I had that Black screen of death twice as well, I had to pull the battery to get the phone to work again. If these annoying bugs get fixed soon then I'll probably just stick with the Bionic. I'm more interested in the Galaxy Nexus, ICS looks really nice on it and a 720p screen but I don't know about paying full price for basically the same hardware otherwise...then again one trade in site said they'd give me 300 bucks for my Bionic so I might go to the Galaxy Nexus depending on the reviews. One thing that annoyed me is just a month after I got my Bionic for what I thought was a great deal at $180 on Amazon, I see them going for 1 cent lmao.

Motorola has already said that the Bionic is getting ICS. And even if they don't do it themselves, we have our own developers who will make us a version.

Because a lot of people (like me) will not own a phone i cant change the battery in. Period. And i know i am not alone here.

When it comes down to it, if you really think about it - any phone you buy from any manufacturer will have you making the same post within a couple of months - the OEMs are making new models faster and faster now that support Android, a lot more than there were 2 years ago, so you have to expect a new model every other announced month - if you don't then you're the one setting yourself up for a disappointment.
And, as I noted in another thread way back when before I actually got the BIONIC - phones change left and right - in the end, it's up to the buyer to pick a time to dive into the melee and pick a phone that he wants, always knowing that something new is coming around the corner.

offer 1year warranty on all their product..
But thing is that the warranty only cover the repair..
The replacement could happen and depends on the issue..
But if you crack your unit you out luck b/c motorola does not cover that
it all..the worse one is when you get liquid damage..
That is the most crazy one b/c they will not even touch it..

I think you and I are in a small boat! The screen from my Bionic looks the same, if not better, than my Thunderbolt's screen, which looks leagues better than my D1's screen. So why do people hate this screen, honestly? So what it's not SAMOLED, which is so sharp it gave me lasik without me even noticing.
And the camera isn't even that bad if you're rooted and running th3ory's ROM. I just went to a fair with my wife and took tons of pictures without having to wait for the camera to focus longer than 2 seconds.
All in all, I'm not going to jump on the razr bandwagon as I'm going to enjoy the bionic until my contract's due for renewal. Plus, am I the only one who remembers how terrible the original razr's were with battery life and hardware reliability? Yikes...

I and my wife have Bionics that focus in the blink of an eye. No 3rd party app--no root. As I have told others, it seems that the default of 6MP causes a delay, so i set our cameras to 8MP...

re: camera - my camera never takes more than a second and a half to 2 seconds to focus, unless I am simply too close to an object (like 3 inches away).

We're special lol....but I am rooted - but I did not root to fix a non-existent camera issue....
Strangely enough, I have mine set to 8 MP as well. I wonder if hte software is having issues with the 6MP?

I have basically gone the same route as you as my first droid was the droid x. loved the phone but wanted a bit more. the bionic came out and I just love the phone. dual core was a major upgrade and the 4g with a ront facing camera was all I needed. the slight upgrades the razr has over the bionic is not really game changing. I held out awhile because I loved the feel and weight of the droid x and the bionic was just what I was looking for. Either way with the Bionic or the Razr you cannot go wrong.

I can see why people are annoyed at the screen. It really annoys me, to be honest. I can't unsee the dots, even a month into it. However, I've come to the conclusion that it's more important to me that this screen both allows me to see in sunlight, and helps curtail the impact the display has on battery life. I just don't see giving that up.
You're def right about the camera. Being rooted and using Theory's ROM is def the way to go. It's boatloads (pun intended) better than stock. Now THIS is what I wanted out of the camera.
As for the RAZR, I'm disheartened. I think it's super sexy, it has a steel core, Kevlar backing, and OMAP 4460 processor that just just screams "Yankee, I am the Droid you're looking for". But the fact that they made the battery irremovable is likely to keep me from using my other upgrade and handing down the Bionic.
