Multimedia charging dock

If you go to VZW's site and do a search on htc6400dtc, it will show up but it shows out of stock. I have asked repeatedly on Twitter for hTC and VZW to give a release date on this but they wont answer. I also found it on hTCpedia's web site but it's out of stock there too.

HTC Thunderbolt Multimedia Desktop Charging Dock

Incredible dock never came out. A little worried this will be more of the same.

Hopefully seidio releases one even if HTC doesn't. Although seidio did pass on the incredible dock too. If no one releases a dock for this phone I will be livid. At least I have the car dock.

How do you like your car dock. Thinking about getting one this week. This will make 3 docks for me now. 1 Moto Droid. 1 Dinc. and not the TB if I get it.

car dock is pretty nice. only annoying thing for me is that i have to take the seidio case off my phone every time i use the car dock since it won't fit in the dock with it on. other than that, it does what it's supposed to do and has a wide range of adjustment.

It is exactly this that makes me wish I could keep my phone naked (and the fact that it looks great with no case on it), but I have no choice, I need a case. I love the car dock as well, but it is a pain having to do the car dock case strip shuffle. :)

I might try to get a universal car dock that will just grip the phone in it's case then. I've been down this road before with having to take the case off to put it in the dock and yes, it is a pain to have to do each time.

For $60 HTC can keep their dock which is likely as poorly conceived as the Thunderbolt's battery size and the speaker/power in relation to the kickstand. It better do much more than just charge the battery and hold the phone the way it should when the kickstand is in use. Otherwise, I'll keep it in portrait and done.

I ordered the Multimedia Dock at a Verizon Store on day one ... and still waiting :(

Yesterday, I went back to my Verizon Store, and asked for an update ...

He told me it is still in the system, but no stock is available. I asked him to send an email to Corporate, telling them to get this released. He said he would, since he has a Thunderbolt too, and wants it.

He does not understand how a phone that was delayed on its release, does not have an important Accesories already available?!?!

I hope it is not being held up because it is too good (i.e. Verizon is worried about the Unlimited Data and current Free Hotspot)

For people who are ancy and don't want to wait here's a generic dock , I swear I saw this same dock on ebay last week for $30 but now it's $45

EDIT :: Does anyone know if the verizon dock has HDMI on it ??? I haven't seen anything saying yes or no to this

I haven't seen anything either on that. I do know that it plainly states that the one for verizon WILL be able to accept phones using the extended battery. I would be willing to bet that because of that a case would not be a problem.

I really wanted this dock since it worked so well with my og droid, but I've been using the kickstand in portrait "mode" and clicking on the clock app to get the screen saver and now I've pretty much forgotten about the dock. I also don't feel like taking off the case x times a day to use the dock. I'll probably change my mind once it comes out though :P

While I hope you are correct, I tend to doubt that cases will fit. Look at the photos. Like most docks, the side edges tend to be snug to guide the phone to correctly align the charge port. On micro-USB, that alignment has no room for error. The back of the phone cradle could easily have a cut-out to accommodate the extended battery without having any impact on the exactness of the edge alignment needed to get the phone correctly onto the micro-USB port.

I use the pocketable HTC leather messenger pouch and also want body protection for when the phone is out of the case. However, I also want the dock and, as I said, doubt any will fit the dock (certainly do not want to remove body case every night). I am hoping that the bodyguardz armor: HTC ThunderBolt BodyGuardz Decorative Armor Application Demo - SlashGear might be the one possible exception.

I just took a quick look at the aftermarket "dock" on ebay (posted above) and that one looks like it has a much better chance of working with at least some cases. However, it also might be a royal PITA as it has no sides to guide the phone to the port.

I am also considering getting a car dock. My car has built in GPS and BT so I would only use a car dock when I travel and use rental cars. But, for those limited occasions, a generic after-market and my BB micro-USB car charger may do just fine.

I hope that is not it (but it might be) ... I see no HDMI, so how do they call it a "Multimedia" Dock, when all it is, is a stand with a USB cable ... for $60?!?!

I already have a USB Cable, and the Thunderbolt has a Kick-Stand ... Granted, to use the Kick-Stand and USB, you have to stand it up lengthwise, but a lot of the pages only work lengthwise (e.g. Home, All apps, FM Radio)

I want to use Multimedia on my 65" Plasma TV (i.e HDMI) ... I can already use my USB Cable on my desktop computer

EDIT: The one on Ebay is called a 'Desktop Dock Charger' (which it clearly is) ... let's hope there is another one coming that is 'Multimedia' (i.e. can be used with a HDTV)

This is reminding me way too much of the dock for the Incredible which never came out. I want at least 2 of these.

^ at least there are official pictures of this dock and it's in the vzw system. if i recall correctly the incredible dock never even made it past the rumor stage.

biggest unknown about this dock for me is if it has any multimedia out capabilities at all. i really hope it does...especially at that price.

Not sure if this will work for you (as I don't know if your TV can do it, but I'm guessing it can) but you could try using DLNA to connect the phone to your TV and use Multimedia that way. Again your TV has to have DLNA cappabilities, but most of the newer TVs have this built in to them. If not you can use a media station (like an Xbox 360) to connect it to.

Although my TV is only one and a half years old (Panasonic Viera TC-P65S1) ... it has no PC Input, USB, or DLNA

The Xbox, or PS3, might be an alternative ... and would let me Stream Netflix, and save money by cancelling Cable and not buying this Dock ... but I would want Verizon FiOS first

Went to the Verizon Store and asked for another update. The salesman who sold me the Thunderbolt was not in, so I spoke to another salesman ...

He told me it has not even been Ordered ... and there is nothing under my account about it?!?! I told him I bought the Thunderbolt with the expectation of getting a HDMI link via this Multimedia Dock. He shrugged his shoulders and told me to come back tomorrow when my Salesman was back

... told me to come back tomorrow when my Salesman was back

Went in today ... the 'Greeter' (the same guy I talked to the day before) told me my salesman was out at a "training session", and would have him call me when he gets in ... that was 6 hours ago

I am getting an overwhelming feeling, my Verizon salesman lied to me, and lead me on, over numerous visits, to get me to buy the phone, and keep it past the '15 Day return period' ... when I made it clear, I only wanted the Thunderbolt if it had a HDMI connection to be used with my TV

I really like the phone ... but I hate being mislead, and happily would have waited for the next LTE phone.

Do I throw a fit ... or wait some more???
