Help Music Player

I have a spanish dictionary app (Spanish Dict) installed and it has every word also as an audio file and when I attempt to listen to music, it adds those 2-3 second sound clips (of spanish words lol) in the mix...Quite frustrating...is there anyway to exclude these files in the shuffle? Also, what's your favorite music player? Kinda hate how 2.2 has no EQ by default..

I use poweramp, it has an eq and you choose what folders it scans.

Poweramp is probably the best music player for the Android right now. They let you use it for a while without buying it but eventually you have to shell out $5 to use the full version. Unfortunately the standard music player doesn't let you choose which folder to include in your music library. :/

I understood completely. The app installed audio files of words being pronounced. The music player is picking them up as songs and including them in the play list. Either tell the player to ignore the folder that contains them or create a play list that doesn't include them. The player itself is not the problem.

We've got a couple of rules round here. One is "Either post constructively or not at all", and the other is "Be respectful to others". Please keep these in mind.

To the OP: you can tell Android to ignore the contents of folders in its media scans by creating a single-character text file named ".nomedia" and copying it into each folder you wish ignored.

Please describe what you mean by a "single-character text file", just any single letter or symbol in a text file saved as .nomedia? Is there a particular character that should be used? I'm new to these types of files and appreciate your help.

Technically it can just be an empty file. Android doesn't require it to have anything in it, just that it be named ".nomedia".

i joined this forum for the sole purpose of figuring out what the heck to do with the stupid spanishdict files, so i'm glad i found this! however, i tried it and the files still show up in my music player..

Make sure you're not putting an extension on it. The name should simply read .nomedia and yes that's a period in front . If you're using a phone based app to create the file that asks if you want it to be Text or All Files, make sure to choose All Files.

Sweet. I replaced my gallery with quick pic because of this same issue, that one lets you exclude folders right inside. Same deal but for pics.

This exclusion is for any "media", be it pictures, audio or video.
