Root my current setup

First off, thanks to everyone here who has helped me get to where I am at this far. I have only been rooted about a week and a half..but am very steadily gaining some working knowledge on "root".

Just wanted to share my current setup with the group, incase anyone out there was looking for a "starting point"

ROM: Mikg3.0
Kernel: newest anthrax found in kernel thread
Setcpu: OC 1113 / 128 min..smartass scaling

My phone is very "snappy" with anthrax, and battery seems to be doing alright (i only flashed last night). left phone off charge all night, so at 12 hours, I am at 60% battery still. mind you, phone was sleeping for about 5 hrs while I slept. I am a light/moderate user...and work in a remote environment.so my phone goes in and out of roam (yeah..LOL) during the day, sucking up battery.

with the same settings using aggressive freedom, my phone would chop a bit when waking and took a bit to catch up..not with anthrax so far. Going to play with the CPU settings again tomorrow..probably scale the max down a bit, just to see how low I can get and still have same responsiveness.

the next kernel I plan to flash is more freedom (next week) to compare..I have been seeing good things with that as well on the boards
 
thanks for the reply OCN! I do toggle mobile data on/off when in or not in use. but it seems to still KILL my battery when turned on and using...its night at day when I am at home on WIFI, or close to home on 3G.
 
hi ...i find a little extra by setting profile to screen off and set it 128 low and 245 hi...so itsleeps with little use by apps..works for me on asop may not for u ..food for thought
 
CapThrowback mentioned that some phones have a prob with being underclocked to 125. That is enough of a warning for me to steer clear of going that low.

Does that kernel have interactivex or smartass setting? I have noticed with those it is like having a built in screen off profile, and that is good enough for me.

I would suggest you take a look at this too, this guy's stuff is good for my phone. I tried his Niftyconniption (sp?) tweak earlier, and know it is good, currently trying this one. Seems good so far, check it out.

hi im using savage zen 221 and i use conserative setting and 128 works ok once in a great while its slow to wake up..but yes on other sense roms and ics i dont set under 245 cause of wake up and i never check the box for boot to avoid problems as well.
 
thanks for the input guys! I was running 128 w/ interactive x prior..so I dont think my phone has a problem going that low as I have seen it ping down that low from set cpu. my phone did do a random reboot just once w/ aggressive freedom when I set at 128...still looking to fine tune!

thanks for that link! i read the thread..what exactly do those tweaks do...will they re kernel me...etc?
 
No re kernaling.

It is supposed to make the phone work better in various ways, i am not in this particular technical loop.

I am thinking I actually liked the nifty conniption tweak script he had earlier better, think it agreed with my phone better.

Really smooth, really fast. This one is good though too. I am SO confused. :)
 
that script is just a memory manager script which helps to optimize your memory and allows those that need memory to be used first. it just prioritizes your memory which in turn helps speeds things up. i have not tried this one yet, but i plan to.

Going to bed at 30% battery left. 16 hrs on battery, 1 hour 26 minutes screen on time. Lightly moderate use today, few calls, some text, internet use and quick games. Think we have a winner here!
