They responded in a way that hinted they were going to work towards unlocking their phones/releasing future phones unlocked. That did NOT mean an instant change, but rather something they'd work towards. It also did NOT mean the X would be one to get unlocked. I do agree that some should swallow their whines if they feel Motorola is at fault in the slightest for pulling a quick one on them.
 
As we buy phones they are Ours not anyone else's we should be able to do as we please. Now if we void our warranties in the process then so be it but Motorola up to this point made it feel as we rent or they loan ours phones to us. HTC now are showing people how to get unlock bootloaders on their phones and u have to sign away your warranty just saying we ain't bitching that Motorola ain't keeping their word just saying they are finally realizing that we own our phones not them

Nah. I'm going to continue to complain. I don't like a locked bootloader one bit. If moto doesn't unlock bootloaders, I go elsewhere. I'll probably leave moto anyway.

If anyone has an issue with my complaining about it? You don't really have to read it! It's a free country. :p

These type of comments make no sense to me as you will not be dealing with the Motorola of old, it will be a whole new entity that is Google driven (at least that is the hope).

But we'll see, the Google/Moto combo is still in my doghouse for now (they've done nothing yet, and I see them doing nothing for the X, the future phones are the key)...

the buyout can certainly help moto devices and we the consumers, its all a play by call kinda deal right now, no one should jump to conclusions that things will completely change, cause you never know what can happen, they may still be encrypted, may not, do we i see any support for the current moto phones out now? not a chance, future devices AFTER the buyout is complete, i bet will be completely different, design and all. we can only hope for the best, but prepare for the worst.

when this thread was posted it was about the dx and the possibilities and the abilities we cannot do, it has since then gone out of whack, but it does still talk about the DX and the capabilities. i will consult with steven on this matter and see what his judgement should be
