My not so thrill review about G2x

haha.. it is protecting something for sure. Check the back of the phone with the metal plate. It also has a plastic sheet covers on it.

Yeah, I had plastic there and on the power button and volume control, as well as around the micro USB connector on the bottom. But the screen protector is a different kind of plastic, and, as I said, has cutouts that make it look like it was intended to be left on the phone.

Anyone wanna use a knife on their screen with one of those? Please let us know. :D

It isn't a screen protector, just a piece of plastic to to cover the finishing as Lunch said. Every appliance/piece of technology has it.

Doubtful...given that, as stated earlier, it has cutouts for the sensors and camera, just like the aftermarket protectors.

Not all protectors are made with the same composition, in that some are harder/thinner, while some are thicker/gummier. If it were just a "temporary shipping" film, I think mine would have fallen off by now, and and would have been applied with a milder adhesive. There would also most likely be a pull-tab if it were to be removed after un-boxing.

Good points on the pull tabs.

I just took mine off and put in my Zagg.

The front was is mostly plastic, granted, better than your average films, but I still wouldn't rely on it. I'm more than happy that it lasted me the 10 days until I got my permanent one, it looked like it could have done more than that, but I like my Zagg shield. :D

The back one was more gummier. I pulled it from both sides and it stretched out and finally broke.

As a side note, just because it's a temporary shipping film, it doesn't mean it'll fall off right away, my dad has had his on his Minivan's CD player for the past seven years. HA! :D

Did you update Flash to 10.2? Videos on tbs.com were fairly laggy, at least to load however after updating the G2x to Flash player 10.2, everything loaded and played smoothly. YMMV.

You can take the plastic off....In fact, I would recommend against even putting a screen protector. You know why? It has Gorilla Glass which is one of the big reasons I bought this phone. Look up Gorilla Glass to check out how awesome it is! It's a shame I'm on my second phone and it's riddled with problems.

Good luck with that. My Moto Defy is a "ruggedized phone" with Gorilla Glass...and 3 deep scratches from simply carrying it in my pocket with my Nokia E72, not that I mind, as I will continue to use it sans any case or screen protector. GG is good for minor abrasions, and day to day wear, but it is far from from being in vulnerable.
