Hey, all.

Long time Virgin Mobile customer and fairly new LG Optimus V owner. Having a few problems I hope someone can give me advice on.

Trying to get past the new registrant restrictions to ask my question, too. :)

Thanks,

Bryan

Hey, guys. Hoping someone can help out the new guy.

I rooted my Optimus V and removed the bloatware, using a suite that included Gingerbreak; Busybox; and Titanium Backup. I also used ROM Manager to install Clockwork and backup my stock ROM.

So far, so good, and maybe I should have stopped there.

I got cocky though, and decided to flash MIUIHO to the phone. I used ROM Manager to flash the ROM from my SD card.

But! Now, all it does is show the LG splash, then switch to a black screen, and sit there saying "Droid," every few seconds.

I can't seem to boot into either recovery or emergency mode.

Anyone have any experience with this? I'm thinking I'm screwed and need a new phone, but I thought I'd check first with people who likely know more than I do.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks.

...but about the phone:

What kind of problems are you having?

My problem was explained here.

From the reply I got, it looks like I was following the wrong instructions; or rather, the right instructions for the wrong phone. How can the internet be wrong?!

As long as you don't use the Factory Reset option in the phone's privacy setting you will be OK. Go here The Truth About ROM Manager
You have the Wrong recovery for your screen version. Watch the video.

Hm. Thanks for the information.

I actually ended up sending it to SWT to be re-flashed. Hopefully, that will work out, okay.
Unless they just send it back with a note that says, "don't flash your phone, idiot." :p

ROM Manager cannot wipe and format everything necessary for a proper/clean install of any CM-7 or CM-9 ROM. I'm going to include obijohn's Update_Wiper_1.3.zip in my tutorial to allow this to be possible but you will have to purchase the premium version in order to get everything to work properly.

I'm going to merge you two threads together so there will be one thread in the appropriate forum (All Things Root sub-forum)
