My Root process for those that want to learn the process !!

This problem with only seeing one bar is an AOSP rom issue, not aosp 0.9.7, AOSP roms in general, just fyi. Your signal is not any better or any worse;)

If it's annoying there is a fix for that

Hey Andy, where is the link for the fix? I am super lazy right now...

No, I was just curious about it, but thanks, also does this work for AOSP V 0.9.7 ?? not that I want it, just for others to know, as long as i don't miss any calls I don't care if it has 1 bar or 4, LOL

Should work on all AOSP roms

One thing I did try today was do a 3 way call and was not able to do so on this Rom, if someone on this Rom would like to try and see if they are able to do so please let me know, when I merge the 2 calls all I get is a fast busy signal, I also did not notice a way to flash between calls, I tried hitting menu while on the call but nothing comes up

Then maybe I am doing it wrong, I am on a call, then I hit add call, then I get the dialer, I then enter the number I want to add, once done I wait and all I see is the second timer, and do not here the call going through, I then try to hit the Merge 2 calls and then I get a fast signal, is that your same process, and how do you flash between call, just curious, also this is while I am on a Bluetooth have not tried without it

WHAT???? You want the PHONE TO WORK????
HA - I haven't had issues with the three ways!
: )

I don't remember my process -will have to goof around with it later and let you know.
It has worked for me though

Here you go, I went and flashed CM6 tonight, and I was very surprised, to see once all was flashed and loaded, all my apps were there and Gmail already set up, now I am not sure why that was, maybe I did not wipe data, not sure, or did titanium back install my apps back, I have no clue, maybe I didn't flash the ROM in recovery, don't remember, LOL, but that was the only process I forgot to do was wipe data, lol well I can always redo it, anyways here are a couple of screen shots, my main reason for doing so was to see if I could get my 3 way calling back, and still does not work on this ROM either, but could be because I did not wipe data we will soon see,I will post a couple of screen shots in a little while.

Edited: Yep I forgot to wipe the data, LOL but still the same with the dialer , no 3 way, I will call Sprint and see if it is something with the,

Also Flashed Liquid Sense tonight, like Froyo much better had 2.1 for too long, I can do 3 way with this ROM also, Here are a few screen shots, thank god for titanium back, LOL

I must say the one thing I really love about the root process, is the fact that the calls go through with no lag now, like a phones is suppose too, even though my phone was running good, it still had the odd lag, I have not had one lag on a call in the past 2 weeks :D

Hi there,

I wanted to thank you DonB, your instructions on the first page of this thread have been great!!!!

I bought the phone on June last year, I rooted the phone on November last year, and finally installed a custom ROM (AOSPv.9.9 2.2) last Sunday, and have been testing it the whole week and so far so good. The ROM is excellent, love it so far. It feels like I bought a completely new phone.

Thanks to everybody in the community as well for all the feedback.

The only issue I have experienced so far, has been with Pandora; the music started to sound choppy and the phone became unresponsive and then boot itself. And have a another issue with MOG, the song just stopped playing and the phone was completely frozen I had to take out the battery. Will try again and see what happens. The AOSP stock player and Meridian worked fine with my music.

Will keep testing the ROM for one more week.

You can also try a different music player from the market and see, also you may want to do a Nandroid and give the GB RoM a try it is pretty amazing and I think you will like it ;)

cuyuni -

Jack up your Min CPU Setting to 358mhz when you listen to Pandora -
Its a know issue....Have emailed the DEVS at Pandora asking for them to fix on their end.

Mahalo, thanks for your input. Yes, after I put the post, I found in the forum some discussions about the issue with Froyo and Pandora.

I installed the battery tweak from Collin_ph and bumped up the min and max CPU settings.

On battery 245/710
On USB 480/710
On electrical outlet 518/729

My hero is behaving beautifully, today I will be checking my battery life.

Mahalo, thanks for the information I have my minimum under battery set at 245 so I am going to bump it up to 358 as you suggested.
I had not checked Pandora on battery because I got the issue when I was listening to Pandora in my car. After I changed the CPU settings, no issue with Pandora on my car.

Let see if Pandora Dev's fix the issue anytime soon.

DonB, thanks for your suggestion to try GB; I think I am going to wait a little bit until the ROM gets more stable; right now having Froyo working so nicely makes me feel my old Hero like a new phone.

If everything goes well for the next two days of testing, I am going to do the same to my wife's Hero (root & Froyo); she is starting to loose her patient and getting very frustrated with the phone, so I don't want to pay for a new one yet if she finally smash it against the wall lol.

Thank you very much guys.

I still remember when I was complaining to Sprint executive rep. about the decision of leaving the Heros out of the Froyo update; she told me that Froyo will not run in the Hero blah blah blah.............what a pity I cannot put my phone in her face now haha.

Hello guys,

An update about my battery life today; well I disconnected my phone from the electrical plug today at 7:00am, it's 7:00pm. I have used my phone as regularly I use it. I have Gmail, Hotmail, Exchange, Facebook & Twitter Sync'n and before when I used to have Android 2.1 by this time I used to be already with my phone plugged into the electrical outlet. According to the phone info, my battery still has 30% charge; so I think I can say my battery life have improved a lot, however I am not sure if is because the change from stock 2.1 to AOSP, or the Collin_ph battery tweak or both.

What a change in my old phone :D

One more day of testing................

Well keep on testing and keep us posted, keep in mind it is a Android phone that is connected to the internet 24/7 and you do have a lot of apps that are syncing, so if you get 15 hours of use without a charge is pretty good with moderate use ;)

Hi DonB,

Well, definitely there has been very good improvement in the battery life of my phone. I used to have around 8 hours of moderate use before I had to recharge the battery, now I am reaching 12 hours; that's 4 hours more. So it is good to know it has that extra life in case I needed; I usually have my phone charging at home, my car and work so I really don't depend on the battery except for the few occasion I am away from these three places :D

I also rooted and installed AOSP in my wife's HTC Hero and installed Collin_ph battery tweak as well with the same setting I used in mine. Let's see how it goes with my wife.

When GB gets stable enough, for sure I will try it ;)

Thank you guys.

Kool and enjoy your phone, and GB is pretty as stable at you can get it now, it is my everyday RoM now FYI ;)

Thanks DonB, I am enjoying my HTC Hero for the first time since I bought it amazing huh?

I will read the posts you guys have in the GB thread.
Any issue with GB so far?
What are the advantages? It is faster? More reliable than Froyo? In terms of performance in my HTC Hero, what do you think are the advantages GB has over Froyo? Just curious since I am staring to learn about GB. :D
