Naked or case?

Using protection?

I used an invisible shield on my touch pro for the last year and a half, and it was okay... but after a while it started peeling and getting junk stuck underneath the corners. Eventually I peeled most of it off (aside from the screen protector part), and it did leave my phone nice and scratch-free. I think I'll just try the EVO on its own, especially if it has a scratch resistant glass screen. My iPod touch just feels so durable compared to the plastic resistive screens of the past.

Like someone said above, just remember to keep the phone in one pocket, and everything else in the other! Keys and phones do not mix (same with loose change, etc.)

Also, who keeps their phone in their back pocket? Isn't that just asking for trouble when you sit down?

I am going with Ghost Armor. I have it on my pre and it is great. I don't like the "orange peel" feel of Invisible Shield. Plus Ghost Armor is cheaper and is the same stuff but there is no texture like I.S. I think I am going with just the screen instead of full body, but I would like to protect the lens of the camera.

Ok here is question since I don't really use any of this stuff, or I should say I have used some but it was a long, long time ago and you had to basically scape the darn thing down with a credit card until your finger bled to get the bubbles out. Has this shield stuff improved at all in the last few years or is it still a pain in the rear to get on?

Figure with a screen that large I might have to give it another go.

I had no problem putting on a skin. You basically spray the skin with the included spray, spray the screen, put the skin on, move it around till it is right, and use the included squeegee to push the bubbles out. As long as you get all the major bubbles out, as the skin and screen dry, it forces the rest of the little bubbles out. It takes about 2 hours to dry and once it is dry, it looks like night and day. If you don't quite get it right, you just peel it off, respray and do it again. Overall it was an easy and good experience. After a year, it is still perfect and so is my screen.

If you get Ghost Armor, you can buy it at Best Buy and they will put it on for you, and if it ever starts to come off, they will put a new one on.

Ah good to hear it has improved, yeah when I tried it the thing was noting but a sticker and you had to put a hell of alot of pressure to try and iron everything out. Which screen are you using the invisible shield named brand one?

I am using Ghost Armor, but Invisible shield is the same stuff, same way of applying, but has an orange peel texture to it. Ghost armor is just smooth.

Nice last question I promise. = )

Do any of these screens have a finish to prevent fringerprint and oils from your hand getting all over the screen?

screen protectors? From the ones that I have used, fingerprints dont show on the protector but they can still get oily. Easy to wipe off though.

I will use a screen protector and an otterbox case when they come out. I run a kitchen and it never fails that I drop my phone on the hard tile floor all the time. I use to break phones constantly until I got the otterbox case. I have not broke a phone since buying this case.

I would hate to get this phone and then have something happen to it.
I don't have an otterbox case but I know several people that do. They seem to be built great. I have never heard anyone talk badly of them. I emailed them and ask if they were going to make a case and this was their response.

Update for Case #110521 - "Htc Evo 4G"

Dear Travis,

We do not have any information if a case will be made at this time for that device, but it is something that has been requested. I have put in a product suggestion on your behalf, and recommend keeping an eye on our website, as it will have the most up to date information on any new releases that we may have.

Thank you,
Katy

I'm definitely going to get a case and a screen protector for this thing. I kept my iPhone nakekd but I really don't wanna damage this sexy beast in any way

Nakey.

MAYBE a screen protector, but it would be to keep the glossy bezel area scratch free and not the screen.

Phone is big enough without a case already.

I would love a case on the EVO but like Autosuggestion said, the phone is big enough already. Thats why im going with phantom skinz.

Also for those who are on the fence on what kind of screen/body protectors to get, here is a excellent post on 4 different kinds of skins. Its for the pre but im sure the quality and what not should be the same for the EVO.
Review w/ Pics: Phantom Skins, Best Skins Ever, Clear-Coat, Zagg, Vaja & Fortte - PreCentral Forums

Thanks man, that was a good read.

Anyone have a pic of their screen protected device with it actually on, that palm pictured in the article had a pretty bad display from the protector maybe because it was wet but I'm just curios as to what it looks like when it's on and dry.

I dont have any pictures but I can tell you that when I put my phantom skinz on my pre it looked horrible at first. After about 24 hours though I couldnt tell the skin was on there. Wish someone would had told me to let it dry first. I threw my first one away cause it looked so bad.

That dude must just really suck at applying the shields.

I have a BSE on my iPhone and its absolutely crystal CLEAR.

No peel effect and you can't even tell its on until you look at the corners and see the end of the film.

naked. i take good care of my phones drop-wise and modern touch screens (HD2, droid, etc.) are basically scratch-proof, unlike the pre which was a nightmare

I HATE the way screen protectiors like Zagg or InvisibleShield go on, where you have place the material in water and a bit of soap.

I also dislike how it is so easy to get dust particles and other stuff on your screen if you don't put it on perfectly, I tried it once and I still could not get it on a screen without dust getting stuck, you basically have to go a sauna to have the right conditions for this.

Has anyone else had any problems with this?

I wonder if there are any other alternatives to good screen protectors?

Edit: I used bestskinsever and I had a horrible experience with it, perhaps it's different for other protectors?

For me, I've never had any problems with screen protectors from Clarivue. I've always used the privacy screen protector from them and the install was very easy. I currently have one on my Blackberry 8900 and it's been on there since day one...which was over a year ago. Before that, I had one on a Blackberry 8330 and a HTC Wizard (aka MDA and this has a touchscreen)...all without any problems. So, I'm definitely going with them on my screen protector.

FYI for anyone interested in a Seidio case and/or holder. They are getting ready to make one for the EVO! So hopefully it will be ready before E-Day. I think I'm going to put my Evo in a Seidio case, since my 8900 has been in one over a year and it has really protected her.

Naked, with a pouch and phantom skinz screen protector. Only way I would get a case is if they have some really nice thin ones. Nothing with a lot of flare or fake diamonds though.
