Neat ROM

What settings you use to get most of your battery with this ROM?

Thanks Sale!

sales, NEAT Lite ROM's take care of themselves but as this comes bundled with Siyah, 3.3.2, I would suggest installing ExTweaks and ExTweaks Plus from the Play Store and setting the default to, "Battery", and enable GENTLE_FAIR_SLEEPERS in CPU in ExTweaks. I leave all other settings, apart from BLN, as default.

If you don't want to pay for the ExTweaks Plus, you can set the default for Siyah by going into Recovery > kernel specific options. Use the, "Remove all files in init'd folder", under those options prior to doing this.

I agree with all ironass has to say for a change! (and that's a lot, cos the bugger never shuts up!) :D

A couple of things I would like to add:

Sale, you obviously know what you're doing with all these ROMs but my biggest fear is you taking too much work onto yourself, and you end up disheartened and ultimately throw in the towel. I obviously would hate to see this happen. Your extremely helpful nature in helping almost each and everyone out on your thread by doing mods on a per-person basis must take its toll. It may well not be the case, but I get the impression its a bit of a conveyor belt for you lately, what with all these new firmware releases and mod requests. I would much prefer seeing less ROMs, and possibly have you spend more time on each instead of spreading yourself across so thinly. I know I've mentioned this before, but I really do think that a single Neat Lite ROM is the way forward, with all the removed apps in a separate zip for those who want the full version. At least this would give you more time to focus on a single top quality end product.

I also think you should wait a few days between emailing your donators new ROMS and issuing it out to the world. This is not me being selfish as I am myself a donator, and want it before the rest of the "rabble", but it really would benefit you. I'm sure you would get more donators by "teasing" them a little bit longer, which would make more impatient people dip into their pockets. This will ultimately mean you would be able to do your great work for longer.

Anyway Sale, you are your own man, and you obviously know what's best for both you and Neat as a product. I am only agreeing with ironass and saying these things as I would really hate to see you+Neat fizzle out in the near future. You are a diamond amongst Devs, you really are.Second to none in my opinion, and the selfish part of me wants you on board for as long as possible! :)

Anyway, back onto Neat. :D

As most on here know, I have been 100% happy since my very first Neat ROM (LPD if I remember correctly). I started this thread over a month ago, and I have been raving about it since post #1.

I reluctantly came off LPG to try LPI, as LPG was so good for me. All is as great as ever on LPI. I Can't say I really notice any difference between the two, but that's not a bad thing at all as LPG was so good.

So, I was a little shocked when I seen UHLPS released on SamMobile, and even more shocked when I knew that there would be a Neat release on this base less than 24 hours later! I'm getting very confused with all the firmware versioning on ICS, not really knowing what firmware is newer than another. I know you can go on build dates, but why name firmware with a base that has been released months ago? I'm not getting Samsung at all since ICS. GB was far more logical and understandable. I really dont think its new firmware, just the same old firmware tweaked for a different region.

Anyway curiosity as ever got the better of me, so I've put on UHLPS for a quick nose. This comes bundled with Siyah 3.3.2 (at last!)
A couple of things on this version I've not noticed before:
1. Display settings has a "Help Text" on lockscreen option
2. Display settings has a "show battery %age" option to show it in the status bar
3. Contacts tab on dialer as standard

There may be other differences, but none that I've noticed in my first hour of poking around.

UHLPS seems very smooth and slick. Smoother than LPG/LPI? I couldn't say. There's not much in it. Begs the question Sale, is it really worth all the effort to release on every new firmware release? It may be better for you to play around with it yourself for a few days first before deciding if its worth doing?

Bit concerned about UHLPG modem, and how this will perform in the UK. I'll keep it on for the time being to test, but I may end up puttin LPX back on. We shall see. I've made a flashable zip for LPG modem which I will put up later for those who may want to try.

Now I'm on my LPS base, I will now try and apply my usual JKay/S3 mods....

Thanks again Sale. Take a rest now! :D

Edit: Just to let you know, if you want to use UHLPS+JKay, then it looks as though we will have to wait for an official JKay release of the framework. LPG framework works flawlessly on LPI, but I can't get any working on UHLPS. So, its back to LPI for me for the time being at least.

Blooming heck sale!

What do you eat for breakfast?

Whatever it is, I'm adding it to the ironass diet!

6 ROM's in about 48 hours. To say you are prolific would be an understatement!

I have to say that, personally, I shall be sticking with XWLPI NeatRom Lite. The reason for this is two fold.

First I am a big fan of JKay's framework and DeLuxe Settings. For me, they are so useful and indispensable. Currently, JKay supports up to LPG, (I know, I said I was on LPI, but that is thanks to Hawker's largesse, here), although he is working on an updated, v14.1, version for both LPG and LPI. See, here.

The second reason is that since Samsung do not, as far as I am aware, issue changelogs, there seems to be no way of finding out what improvements, if any, are in a new firmware.

You cannot rely on firmware lettering/numbering as, for instance, Argentina had a firmware release of LPK in May, (the only country AFAIK, to get LPK), whilst Europe, unbranded, was only just getting LPD.

I'm not convinced that the, "Build date", offers much help as that just tells you when a particular firmware was, "signed off". It does not seem to tell you which Samsung build a particular firmware release is based on. For all I know, UHLPS, could be based on the old LPS firmware that came out in March for Poland, (Samsung have gone round the alphabet).

I have to say, that I wholeheartedly echo other posters comments on sale. He is one of, if not the most, helpful and polite developers that I have ever come across. He certainly knows his stuff and nothing seems to be too much trouble for him. His NEAT ROM's are a joy to use and the Lite versions give me so much better battery life when used in conjunction with the Siyah, v3.3.2, kernel and ExTweaks. I must also not forget to mention his mod's, many of which I use, as, like the JKay framework and settings, they allow me to configure my phone for my optimal usage and ease.

For my own selfish reasons, I don't want sale to burn himself out or become disillusioned as I know that things are not easy for him at the moment.

Therefore, I am going to do something that I have not done before, and that is to donate again to sale, After all, it seems only fair that I've used 4 or 5 of his ROM's and a donation is the same as paying for something in the Play Store. Plus, as a donator, sale emails me with the latest ROM's and download links before going public. This allows me to get a jump on the majority of users but does have its drawbacks... namely, I'm afraid to get drunk in case I get an email from sale, with a new release that I've been waiting for, when I'm in the pub! This has actually happened. As I started to download the firmware, there and then, my companion told me, in no uncertain terms, that she would shove my phone where the sun don't shine!

That brings me to my final request sale... could you please give donator's a 24 or 48 hour lead in time before releasing so that I do not end up walking in a funny way. ;)

Oh! I nearly forgot... what do you eat for breakfast, again?

Guys, thank you very much for your support, donation and thank you for your suggestions and thanks for your kind words :)
Agreed 24h :)
Breakfast?
Today was (I think) 4 cups of coffee and 3 ham and cheese slices rolled up :)

I agree with all ironass has to say for a change!

I'm framing that and keeping it for future reference... and blackmail!

(and that's a lot, cos the bugger never shuts up!) :D

Pot calling kettle black ass I must say! ;)

Only 24 hours! It takes me that long to sober up. Another request... just don't release them on a Friday or Saturday then.

Cheers sale! I'm with you all the way on the coffee... just not too sure about solids that early in the day. :puke:

I would second Hawker and Ironass's suggestions. I'm exhausted just trying to keep up with flashing the thing :D

I'd also suggest you pick the most commonly asked for mods and include them in the rom as standard. It'll cut down on the number of custom mods you get asked to make.

Finally, take a break dude. Take your family to the park for the day. We'll all still be here when you get back :)

+1

Hope sale treats himself to some arabica with our donations!!

I just installed this as former checkrom user. But coming from ginger seems to be giving me a minor headache. I got around the external_sd issue and opened up my backup with MyBackup Root. But when i restore app data it runs and nothing seems to be restored. Anyone else used MyBackup?

If you don't want to pay for the ExTweaks Plus, you can set the default for Siyah by going into Recovery > kernel specific options. Use the, "Remove all files in init'd folder", under those options prior to doing this.

Are you sure? Neat LPS Lite install puts 5 scripts in there:

00check
10sdboost
S70darky_zipalign
S98MassStorage
sqlite_optimize

Salesale, could you please tell me where I can download the modem you've included in this version (UHLPG). This because I flashed modem UHLPF (I live in Argentina) and now I would like to flash UHLPG again to see the difference.

Thanks friend for all your help.

glore2002.-

Going to try a reflash first but heres my first experience.

A few apps dont load. CWM being the main one. Just get a blank screen and a FC shortly after. Secondly setting wallpapers. Ive downloaded the SGS3 wallpaper pack and I cannot get wallpapers to save at the correct resolution. This may well be down to Touchwiz. If so Ill be ditching that fast. Its horrible to use coming from Nova :(

EDIT: It would appear the app issue was a conflict between Superuser and Super SU. Fixed. :)

hello, please help me.
ive just flashed UHLPS NeatRom Lite v2, after which i have flashed n.e.a.k and 3 mods - no sms in logs, full screen caller id and no increase ring.
the problem is that the contacts app, the one used for the actual phone, keeps crashing, i can't see my contacts or make calls, and if someone is calling me, the phone just vibrates, it doesnt go to the incoming call screen. any idea how to fix it? i'de unflash the mods if i knew how, probably.

Hawker

I was just wondering how have you found the UHLPG modem?

I have flashed each "lite" Rom that the Legend Himself has released but there is something in the back of my mind that just lights up when I think of the LPG release.

I was really impressed with DXLPB too (I think) Im just wondering if Sale could possibly advise which of his builds would be more suitable to the UK as I am aware that he has fans all over the world. He mentions that UHLPS is the best ROM he has tried.......but that is from Serbia

I realise that the best way is to flash and see for yourself but I would rather ask for peoples general consensus as there is a hell of a lot of Roms available nowadays!!!

Thoughts ?

Thanks

You know I suspect its the ROM here doing this but I do like how we arnt treated like idiots anymore when installing zips on CWM. No more scrolling through a list of NO's before finding YES INSTALL! JUst one no and one yes now.

I seem to have found the answer to my own question ......UHLPG is a bag full of awesomeness!!!
