Help Need help ASAP

I have had my HTC Evo 4G for almost two years now. I have never had a problem with it up until about two months ago when suddenly only one phone charger would work with my phone and it was an aftermarket one. I had used other chargers and they just stopped working with my phone. Then about a couple weeks after that happened, the charger had to be plugged into my phone a certain way in order for it to charge. Now, i've woken up to a dead phone for many mornings and when I do get it to charge, it takes a long time for it to be fully charged. Its been about three or four days since I've gotten it to charge fully. This morning it was almost dead when I woke up and so I got it to charge. I left the phone in my room and when I came back it was completely dead. I can't get it to turn on and when I do get the charger plugged in just right the red light flashes a few times and then stops. The closest I've gotten it to turning on is the white HTC screen then it shuts off. Any help or reasons why this is happening? I don't have insurance on the phone and I'm not eligible for an upgrade until July.

it could be another bad charger or your battery. i have found that the official charger from htc works bests. maybe go to the sprint store and and get an official charger and see if that works. if it is not the charger then it could also be the battery.

What month of your contract are you in now?

I ask because Sprint bumped up the eligibility a little. I'm in my 17th month and have had my $150 discount since....I think I got it at the 1 year mark. I'd have to look into that. A Sprint rep also told me I would be eligible for a mail in rebate when I get to the 20th month on my contract but I've heard from others that might not be the case so I'm not 100% on that. Either way it sounds to me like your probably already eligible for $150 off. If you log into Sprint.com and go to "phones & devices" you will get a pop-up if your eligible for the $150 off.

Good luck with your issue.

Could it also be an issue with the charging port? I know it doesn't happen alot but I've seen/heard of instances where ports have gotten damaged in other devices. That could also explain why multiple charges aren't working.

If it's not charging and also dying even when plugged in, it makes me think that your battery is bad. A bad charger might not charge it, but if it's dying, it might just be the battery going bad. I bought these a couple months ago off of Ebay and they work great. They have a higher capacity than the stock battery but still fit with the stock backplate, so you don't have to add any extra bulk to the phone like you do with some extended batteries.

There's also an option for a single battery, but the double batter with external charger is a great value, plus you have a spare battery if you ever have to go a long time without getting to a charger.

I'm thinking you need a new charger. Consider going with an external wall charger.

I have to buy a new charger every 3 to 4 months because the old one stops working. I think I'm a little rough with the piece that fits in the charging port because it feels loose when plugged in but when I get the new one it fits snug.

To cover the two cheap possibilities get what mizzou linked above

I have the same setu mizzou points out and can say i'm very happy with it. It came in real handy just 2 days ago. I live in South where the storm just hit and we lost power I was working the night the storm hit land and the truck we were in didn't have a working plug for the phone charger I had one of my extra batteries with me so I was still able to use my phone. It was a godsend as I was checking the weather to get the latest info on the storm and then being able to call my wife and make sure her and my daughter was ok. It was just real peace of mind for me. That night I would have paid three times as much for the extra battery. And the wall charger is great charges all the batterys even the stock one with no issues.
