First of all, I would get yourself on a custom ROM. MikG3.11 is very nice. It has an upgraded version of the sense interface and other mods like a hacked sprint hotspot.

Custom kernels play more of a role than apps as far as battery life goes. Once you get set up with a custom ROM we will worry about custom kernels.

As far as getting S-ON... no, don't do that yet. S-ON isn't enough to fool sprint into not knowing your rooted (Ex-Your H-boot version has changed, you have a custom recovery, ect). It wouldn't hurt to download the S-ON file and the RUU for later use, but don't use them.

MikG download link:

Superwipe Download link:

To install:
Reboot into Recovery
Make a nandroid if you haven't already(if you have continue)
Select wipe
Wipe everything except for SD card AKA wipe data, system, boot, cache, dalvik cache, SD-EXT and SD-android-secure at least once each. 2X to make sure they're good and clean
Back out to the main recovery menu
Select flash zip from sd card
Choose zip from SD card
Flash the superwipe file
Flash MikG3.11

Hurayyyy

Well that really depends on what your wanting to do.

Next steps as far as getting better performance/battery life would be to download SetCPU from the market (Theres a free version available I can get you if you want to test it out, but if you like the app I'd suggest supporting the dev by purchasing it) as well as installing a custom kernel.

Doing so will allow you to overclock the phone (better performance) or underclock it (better battery life)

What do most people do overclock or underclock? IS their a link for the kernels?

Aggressive Freedom (I get great battery life with this):

Anthrax (decent battery life, great performance):

Many people overclock the CPU and then set the governor to keep the CPU at low speeds until it is needed.

As with all kernels, your mileage may vary.. What works for me does not guarantee similar results for you.

Thats probably more to do with the radios than anything else. The better signal you have, the faster it will be.

You can update radios, but if the battery comes out of the phone while doing so your device will be bricked.

There are scripts and other tweaks you can run that supposedly help, but idk how well they work

whats the name of the free setcpu so i can check it out. if its good then ill buy the real one

not sure where to find it but i would head on over to xda and do a search there. i bought setcpu right after i rooted my phone. and you should just buy it anyways. it is worth the money.

The dev posted a free one on xda for xda users.

If you like the program I'd still suggest paying for the market version to support the dev

Once I get to a comp ill link

do i have to only get mik3.11 themes or can i get any of these themes. i guess im not ready to start flashing new themes. just afraid i might f-up my phone

Usually only those listed for 3.11 will work with 3.11

Mik changes a lot of things in between his updates, so it takes a while for some themes to get caught up so that they work with the newest update.

Always nandroid before flashing a theme
