Newbie
A few days ago I downloaded the rom manager and downloaded a custom rom but I wanna go back to just my stock rom the htc sense is there a way to do this from the rom manager or is the evo stock rom at the bottom of the list the same thing and how you would go back to it? My phone just keeps going to black screens and or when u turn the screen on I just get my wallpaper and nothing else. I have to take my battery out then its fixed but I just wanna go back to stock rom

welcome to the forum!!!! :) (all of the following is provided you made a nandroid b/u of your old setup) turn your phone off like normal, hold down the vol dn button while turning back on(make sure you hold the vol dn button for the first 5-10 seconds of the reboot) youll get to h-boot, vol dn to hilite recovery, pwr bttn to select it, go to restore, go into the folder that your restore points are saved in, hilite the one you want, power bttn to select, and pwr again to confirm, let it do its thang and then its done, itll ask you if you wanna reboot, to whick you say no.... (jk, you hit the pwr button again to reboot) and you should be good to go man :) if you dont have a nandroid b/u of your old setup, then we have more to discuss LOL!!

rom manager has been known to be very buggy. it is also recommended that you do everything manually until you feel comfortable flashing things. doofus's recommendation of doing a restore of your nandroid backup is the best way to undo things. hopefully you did a nandroid backup before you flashed away. here is the .zip of the stock rom if you haven't done a nandroid backup Supersonic_3.70.651.1-Deodexed_signed_teshxx.zip. when you flash it, you will still be rooted but the rom will be stock.

Nope Im a idiot I forgot to do the nandroid backup I have done it plenty of times before on my Evo and my Hero last yr I guess I was just going through it so fast and forgot to back it up. But Im downloading the Evo stock rom in it hopefully thats better than the CM7. Hopefully all of this is solved soon anyways if they release the 3d soon lol but is there another way to go back to stock rom if I didnt do a backup or is the Evo rom Im downloading now as close as to the stable one u can get from sense?

The one you are downloading is exactly the stock rom, just rooted. You can also unroot if you wanted.

Awesome thanks, and sry one more question on my previous Evos, and Heros I always did them manually this is my first time with the Rom Manger app but when this Evo stock rom finishes downloading do I just install from there or is there some place in the rom manager app that I need to delete my CM rom first and then install Evo stock or will just installing the Evo stock rom just override the previous one?

It will over write system and boot, you'll need to wipe data and caches though. You are better off doing it manually in recovery though...

youre not an idiot.... just forgetful lol jk (and even before you start Evom, shuddup LoL) why are you ditching CM7? did you get stuck with no market? if so, we can totally fix ya up on that homey :) CM7 has been rockin my EVO world ever since i figured out how to get AOSP's working right. theyre a bit more involved of a process to get it fully functional, but worth it cuz of the freed up system resources, speed etc etc. but rest assured that with ocn and evom in here (two of the more well versed android forum fellas) we can help you accomplish whatever you need to with youre device(well, short of turning it into a car or something LoL)

especially if youre installing the stock rom after havign installed CM7 (an AOSP rom(androis open source project)) theyre way different animals for some reason

There has been about 10 times the last 2 days where I would be in the text app and push back and nothing but a black screen or in anything for that matter and if I push home it goes fine, or when I turn my phone on after I wake it up it just has my wallpaper and nothing else no apps on my scree, not even a unlock screen or nothing. But I just got done downloading the Evo stock rom and wiped it and cache then it starts to install then it says aborted then starts back up with CM7

Just aborted. It goes to the black screen with the rom manger logo has all the steps or whatever then at the very bottom it finally says aborted. So my phone has restarted about 4 times now after I keep trying to do it. Once it restarts I go back into Rom Manager go to download new rom then evo stock click download then it comes up with backup existing rom and wipe data and cache then once I select it push ok it goes to the black screen with the logo and thats where it says aborted. Sry guys I dont wanna sound stupid here lol I downloaded CM7 just fine obviously its just now I cant go back to it and ya Im doing it manually from now on but thanks so much for the help guys hopefully I get this

Forgot to say it comes up with reboot and install then push ok to reboot into clockworkMod and recovery and continue FWIW if thats normal or if I missed a step

go into recovery, wipe the caches, or do a factory reset, and reinstall whichever rom youd like :) trust me man, avoud rom manager. at least for the timebeing

Just got back from a vacation and I messed with my rom a little bit more I now got the evo stock rom to load and it then goes to the stock sprint logo then 4g then just keeps repeating that process over and over and Im not getting anywhere. I know it said its a long process it could take 30 plus mins but its been a few hrs. I tried taking the battery out and doing a reboot myself cuz this same thing happened with I first used the rom manager app and put cm7 on there but this is taking forever any suggestions? I was thinking about just unrooting it and going back to stock but idk if that will work since u gotta put ur phone into disk drive and Im not sure what my default action is when I plug my phone in
