Root Need message.apk file

i have phone with android 2.3.6 i by mistake uninstalled the mms.apk when i rooted my phone i guess i touched it while i was removing other apps anyways i want to install the apk back i can't receive text... please help this sucks phone is a samsung admire 4g from metropcs

Youll have better luck going to Admire 4G forums. Be carful cause there is the Admire and Admire 4G two different samsung devices.

Did you use an app to uninstall that app? Maybe that app prompted you to back up the MMS one before uninstalling?
If not, you could search for a flashable version of the firmware and reflash

@op sorry about the flow of the thread, but i merged your other thread as it is easier for you to get the right information in one thread rather then get help from all over the place.

and rxpert is correct. just wipe dalvik cache and cache and re-flash your rom. you will not loose data and it will restore your rom to where it should be.

in the future i would use titanium backup or rom toolbox to freeze system apps first before deleting them. or at least like it was suggested to make a nandroid backup and restore back if something goes wrong.

The problem is i didn't delete it on purpose... i must have touched it my mistake and it got deleted along with the bloatware.. but the other problem is that it is a samsung admire 4g but it is a general question...

Well no because noone will know what to do and here people will know how to help with my problem.... but if you have to then thats your job

Using a messaging app that isn't for your device isn't going to help.

You need to reflash whatever ROM you are on as I described earlier

this phone does not have CWM installed so installing a rom would not be good any other ideas?

don't mean to be rude or anything but the fact that you have an admire should have been in your OP. It would have been an easy answer of "that won't work". may i suggest that if you don't know that wont work maybe you shouldnt be messing around with the root capabilities of your device.

how about this then, lets move this thread over to the android lounge forum at the very least. the forum that this thread is in is for an entirely different phone.

and this is found in the admire root forum: http://androidforums.com/admire-all-things-root/723981-cwm-clockworkmod-recovery-v6-0-3-2-a.html ,if you need recovery.

Personally, i think you need to take this to your root sub forum for your device.

Even without a recovery, ff people have root access they can pull the apk from whatever stock ROM they are running and upload it for you

Agreed

Well I was following this thread as I also messed up my mms.apk by trying to overite it with another. It said it was installed but doesn't show up. I tried this one also and it won't install. The reason was the on ROM 2.5.1 the theme makes it hard to see the txt so I wanted to make like stock. Im using Chomp SMS and that works but then my status LED wont work with that :/

Update: I just reinstalled the ROM to fix it. I would still like to get rid of the themed MMS app and use the stock one. If anyone can help I would really appreciate it.

Can i just push this in with android commander? if i could try this please tell me where to put the file like meta etc...
