Root NEED ROM in tar. format for ODIN

I'm afraid i can't view them via my phone and I won't be home for another week to have access to a computer... The last one in the list... All I can see is sys. Does that happen to be system.ext4.tar? (or similar) because if so, that may be what you've been searching for. That would at least repair your system partition... Which would hopefully get you back to a working state

THERE IT IS!:D But what type of file is it?:hmmmm2: Also, should I flash it through the PDA slot in Odin?

I'm willing to bet the stock lk2.tar is what you want. The system.ext4.img looks to be from a backup made in recovery. (or all least not in Odin format)

Now, keep in mind that i do not own this phone, so i can't say with 100% certainty that stock lk2.tar is the one, but i will say if it were my phone it is the one i would try. And in my past experience with Odin, it would go in pda

Copy that, proceeding with installation, wish me luck.

EDIT* Should I uncheck auto-reboot and pull battery?

This should return you to bone stock with the stock recovery. If you wish to get root/recovery again later, you will need to use those steps to install cwm/twrp. But first, let's just try to get you booting again ;):)

Edit - the reason you needed to uncheck auto reboot/pull the battery when you installed twrp is because the stock system overwrites your custom recovery with the stock one if you don't get into recovery first to disable it

should I flash this one through the bootloader slot or the PDA slot?

Again, not knowing 100% since i don't have this device... I can't say for sure... But, my gut says PDA. And honestly, at this point what to your have to lose? :o

based on the size, it's the tar you downloaded before with an additional 8mb of files (hopefully the ones that will solve this problem)

You know what you're right... what do I have to lose? Im gonna flash this sucker through every slot available on Odin. And btw I just want to let you know how grateful I am that I actually got a "guide" to help me out with all of this. THANK YOU SO MUCH :adore:

that's what we're ALL here for, to help each other out. I've had/worked with my fair share of Samsung phones, so i KINDA know what I'm doing... But there is still a little guess work involved with phones I've never actually held in hand. I really hope this gets your phone back up and working ( and doesn't make it worse... But, i guess it can't really get much worse :o )

Keep me posted as to how it goes

PS - PLEASE try pda FIRST :);)

I would also like to mention that the first boot takes longer than normal whole it builds necessary files to run... So give it a good (at least) 5+ min before calling it a fail

You can also try to boot into recovery once it's finished to see if that works

Tbh, i don't think trying bootloader, or csc will have positive results... There's no no way the bootloader us 800+mb and csc is usually Country Service Code... But the only other option i see being possibly viable is phone.... But even that i know little about...

Ps - still patiently waiting for confirmation of success/failure

Sorry about the wait it took a while for my internet to download the file.:(

OH NO! I take that as a fail? :'( I'm sorry bro. I wish i had the magic bullet to fix this. I was totally gunning for this to work... I'm sorry man

:bawling: I was hoping this would work too and I'm the one who should be sorry for being a pest:p............. I know I shouldn't say this but I must... AGAIN, THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR EVERYTHING:adore:

P.S
Who knows? maybe, someday, someone will come by this thread with that magic bullet.:)

Thanks pg, I'm away from home and on throttled 3g, so i had no way to confirm what was inside the tars. Kinda flying blind.

VanVon, I tossed a odin tar with boot, system, and recovery together. Flash it just like you would the recovery.tar's.

This is M950VPBMI2, so will need a few updates afterwards to be on the latest OTA.

M950VPBMI2.tar
