Root Need some clarification...

I got a new optimus v because The old one broke.

The new one has android 2.2.2 on it instead of 2.2.1

First, I was trying to find out what changed with this version, as i looked around and could not find it.

Second, I see that virgin mobile released a radio update, should I wait to root it or wait until after?

Third, Before I rooted really quickly with super one click, which was really easy. I could not find out if it would work with this version.

Sorry for all the questions.

Just making sure I do not screw anything up.

EDIT:

I found out when trying to use Super one click, that it DOES NOT WORK YET ON ANDROID 2.2.2
The only option is in the sticky for rooting using gingerbreak.

I'm not sure of all the changes but I know they removed built-in tether and I'm sure they did some stability and security updates

The new updates does add a new radio image and also fixes the exploit that allowed gingerbreak, superoneclick, etc to work. If you are not worried about the radio at the moment you can use super one click and wait for someone to make an update for the radio. If you want to do update and get radio you will need to follow the new root method by jcase called gordita root. This method requires a PC and adb.

If your not familiar with adb I'd suggest rooting what you have and wait for someone to make a radio update.

Look in the All Things Root Guide. The biggest change is they went with the Hitachi screen instead of the Novatek screen. This means some recovery's and ROM's will cause a black screen because they are incompatible with the new screen drivers. They locked the bootloader, and locked out WiFi tethering.
If you flash the Security update it will remove Root and make it so it will be a little harder to root after (JerryScript has already made a root procedure that works very well after the update has been installed).
We have worked hard to denote the difference between the Hitachi screen and Novatek ROM's and recovery's in the All Things Root Guide. The latest ROM's and recovery's will work on both screen versions.

I am now running the backside rom. Is there any way to take out the theme and make it more like the original? I prefer the previous android keyboard so much more then the one that came with it. The new keyboard in this rom is so small, my fingers have trouble hitting the keys. Plus everythings green....I do not remember downloading the green theme....in fact, positive I didn't.
how do I get other themes that maybe are closer to the original? I installed go launcher instead, got things looking somewhat normal like it was before. Just the keyboard is driving me nuts. I cant seem to find any keyboards on the market that are not tiny....regular size like the basic android keyboard like before was great. Is there any way to download that?

I love the rom though. Holy crap my phone is fast =]

I can't remember the name of the stock CM-7 theme but cammykool does. He brought it back to the forum, from who knows where.

If there was maybe just an easy way to download another theme maybe? Honestly, If I could just get the previous keyboard back I would be happy.
The keyboard is really the only annoying thing about it.

Thanks. The biggest reason I remember is that's one of the themes I decompiled while teaching myself how themes are cooked. :D
