IT DIDNT TAKE ME LONG TO FIGURE OUT HOW TO ROOT IT BUT THE UNROOTING WAS A LITTLE HARDER. THE RENAMING OF FILES AND SUCH. I KEPT THINKING THAT MY FILES AND DOWNLOADS WERE BAD LOL BUT I WAS JUST NOT RENAMING THEM RIGHT LOL. MY INITIAL REASON FOR TRYING TO DO THIS WAS TO HAVE THE KNOWLEDGE AND THE FILES NEEDED TO MAKE THIS HAPPEN QUICK FAST AND IN A HURRY IF NEED BE FOR THE FUTURE. MY ONLY QUESTION NOW... Root Need to UNroot and S-ON....

well i would not recommend that you go back and forth with being rooted and then unrooted. the main reason is that each time you do it, you are changing the hboot. and if you constantly going back and forth, you are increasing the chance of something not going right. i would only unroot when necessary.

my last question and I will quit buggin ya lol.. do I have to delete the s-on tool file and the pc36img file now that its done? or If I go to root it again will those files mess something up???
those are just files that hboot is programmed to search for. that is normal and will always display that when going into hboot. if it says no image or wrong image then it is not finding the file. it needs to be named exactly PC36IMG and it needs to be on the root of the card that means not in any folder. if those two things are not done correctly then hboot will not see it.
is the s-on ZIP that i am getting form here the correct one for my phone? i read on here earlier that maybe i needed to change the radios? or does my baseband look correct for this DL? sorry for blowing up this thread. Just trying to figure this out. Also, just order a new 8gb sd card. Hopefully that will do the trick and my phone will see the image. I'll keep ya posted.
I want to root again and my wife is getting mad at me cause I wont leave my phone alone lol... she keeps asking me why I dont just leave it the way it is lol... she doesnt understand that I am becoming a geek lol and I love the knowledge that comes with it.

from what I have found the s-on tool is pretty universal. I dont have any experience changing radios. I was going to but I found what i needed without having to go that route.
i would delete them off of your phone. because if you go into hboot the PC36IMG file will make hboot ask you to update and install the PC36IMG file. so just delete them. plus if you have to take your phone and they see those files they may know that the phone was rooted at one point.
the s-on zip found in the http://androidforums.com/evo-4g-all...ooting-dummies-guide-gingerbread-edition.html is the correct one. you do not have to mess around with radios at this point. the bigger card should work. please keep us posted.
before I unrooted I had got epic blue n bold (free) from the market... well after I rooted back it no longer existed in the market under any search that I have tried...
can anyone tell me why its not there or direct me to somewhere that I may get it back without having to put a whole new rom to my phone so I dont have to reset all my settings and apps again??? god that took forever cause I was an idiot and didnt save things right before I unrooted lol.. silly me

I guess I just suck at Google lol every time I tried it kept bringing up the zip files and I couldn't figure out how to get those to work. Never could find a direct link to the market. I'm still confused as to why they took it out of the market :-(
well on my computer and phone i was able to find it. that is weird that you cannot. on my computer the market says that it is compatible with the evo so it should show up for you on your phone. so i'm not sure how you search for your apps, but for me i always use the computer unless i'm on the go.
Just an update... So i went ahead and followed some advice i got on here to order a bigger sd card (after trying two 2gb cards and the PC36IMG.zip still not being recognized) Well, it came today (8gb micro sd). I transferd the zip to it, hit the hboot, and BOOM! S-ON!!! i guess the evo really does have issues with 2gb cards. Thanks for all the help!!

So I'm trying to figure out why CM7 makes you send a slide show if you send mire than one pic at a time. I could have sworn I was able to just send someone multiple pics at one time without having to make it a slide show. Anyone know why that might be? or would that be a possibility of my keyboard app?
well the easiest way is to wipe ONLY dalvik cache and cache and reflash cm7. DO NOT wipe data as it will do just that. this way your data will be intact and cm7 will be reset. i would, however, make a nandroid backup first just in case.
