Check out this thread:

...particulary section 5 under the "AFTER ROOTING" part. That should give you a detailed guide of how to unroot. If you have any questions about the process let us know.

ok i downloaded S-ON and this one
PC36IMG_SuperSonic_S_Sprint_WWE_3.70.651.1_Radio_2.15.00.11.19_NV_1.90_release_161482_signed
do i put that on my sdcard aswell after i did the S-ON? i also have another zip file named PC36IMG but someone said i have to rename it? name it what?

1) You need to take the s-on zip file, and put that on the root of your sdcard. To do that, just connect your phone to your pc as a disk drive, then copy it to whatever drive it mounts as. Don't put it in any folders.
2) Turn the phone off, then turn it back on while pressing and holding the volume down button. That takes you to hboot. Select the option for recovery. Select the option to flash/install a zip from the sdcard. Choose the s-on zip.
3) Take that PC36IMG_SuperSonic... file that you downloaded, and rename it to PC36IMG.zip, exactly. I don't know what that other PC36IMG.zip file you have is, but this big one is the one you need. Make sure you don't unzip it or rename it to something like PC36IMG.zip.zip. That can happen on windows since it hides extensions by default.
4) In recovery, there is an option to connect the phone via usb. Connect your phone to your computer, and select that option. You will be able to transfer the PC36IMG.zip file to the phone. Put it on the root of the card, as well, making sure not to put it in any folders.
5) Turn the phone off, and turn it back on while pressing and holding volume down to get to hboot again. It will scan for PC36IMG files, and prompt you to flash it when it finds it. Once it is done, the phone will be unrooted.

Yes i just figured that out about the default extentions lol i installed the right PC36IMG file im all back to stock now... i will reroot again tommorow but this time i wanna try different way besides unrevoke way, any suggestions?

Any particular reason you don't want to use unrevoked? This is the only other method:

[ROOT] ~~~ HTC EVO - Universal Auto Root ~~~ v2.2 (works with all version)(1/10/11) - xda-developers

If do that, though, it will still be flashing unrevoked-forever, which is ultimately the exact same thing as unrevoked3. There is a quick method that flashes the eng hboot instead. That is different, but you must have an older phone that still has 0.9x version hboot, as the warning in the thread says. Do not attempt to do that if you have a newer hboot, especially if the phone is newer, too. Trust me, it will break things.

ahh i see, i was running myns 2point2 i was getting terrible battery, i never flashed any kernals or tried any. i dont have anything running in background all off, i recieve few emails, do cpl txts and im down to 78% in like 20mins or so after a full night of charging, im using stock battery also im gonna switch to my other and see what happens, i did like the setup i had just the battery was going down fast dont know what else to do?

How old is your phone? Did you update to the latest radios? Which version of myn's did you try? RLS5? Did you verify that your phone was sleeping (menu->settings->about phone->battery; verify wake time is much less than awake time)? If you did update to the latest radios, did you try downgrading to PRI 1.77? Unrooting and rerooting is not likely to fix your problem.

just got this replacement last week, i used the newest one thats posted on xda site did both flashes the rom and the one under it the radios, it might of been that battery they sent me i recall when i put in on stock it was going down fast, not as fast tho when i was rooted. didnt try downgrading PRI

Got it. You didn't need to flash the radios. You already have the latest. You might be able to benefit from downgrading PRI, though. Before doing that, though, check your awake usage, and see if it is higher than it should (or equals your uptime).

So when i root again myns rom DONT do the radios just the ROM?
when should i check the awake usage and uptime? i'v already rebooted many times plus charging it now

right now Uptime is 0:05:28 and counting
Awake is 0:04:33 and counting

You only flash radios once, and you only do it if you have older versions. You have a new phone with the latest OTA update, so you have no need to flash the radios again. Of course, my asking you what hboot version you had before was kind of pointless considering you already said above what PC36IMG you were using. I forgot. Anyway, the only time you'll need to update radios is when we get another OTA update, and you'll only need to do it once.

You should check your awake usage if you're getting bad battery life. You can also install spare parts. Plug the phone in, unplug it, wait a few hours, then open spare parts and check partial wake usage since last unplugged. Either way, if the phone is not sleeping, spare parts will tell you what is holding a wake lock. If it's just "Android System", try downgrading PRI, like I suggested earlier.

EDIT: Of course, root again before doing any of this. You need to have the phone on for more than a few minutes for the uptime/awake time to mean much.

Ok thankyou, should i do a full charge tonight with phone off? then go ahead and root tommorow then do spare parts i think that comes with myns rom? i may be wrong on that tho.

You can charge all the way up if you like. Charging over night won't do too much good, as the charger turns off at 100%, and it will drop quickly in the morning. I believe spare parts comes with myn's. If not, install it from the market. You'll want to check spare parts after the phone has been unplugged for a few hours.

Can someone post me a straight link to a pc36image for hboot 2.10? Every one I find says it is no longer there or it ends up being a huge roundabout lol thank you. It would be well apreciated:D

Hello,

I am having a lot of trouble getting s-on on my evo 4g. I have tried and tried multiple times to get hboot to update to the PC36IMG.zip file I found on here with no luck. The extension is correct, .zip not .zip.zip it is in the root of my 2gb sd card which was just reformatted to FAT and all default settings. The PC36IMG.zip is the only folder on my sd card. I did have revolutionary recovery on here until I installed the stock RUU for my phone in hopes that it would completely unroot my phone and bring it back to s-on. Phone is back to stock but still S-off. I do not have any recovery program now though, when i click recovery from bootloader the red triangle comes up.

In bootloader screen its reads as follows:
-Revolutionary-
SUPERSONIC EVT2-3 SHIP S-OFF
HBOOT-6.16.1002
MICROP-041F
TOUCH PANEL-ATMEL224_16AB
RADIO-2.15.00.0808
MAR 8 2011, 17:02:15

when i go to bootloader for hboot the following sequence of messages appear:
SD CHECKING...
LOADING...[PC36DIAG.zip]
NO IMAGE!
LOADING...[PC36DIAG.nbh]
NO IMAGE OR WRONG IMAGE!
LOADING...[PC36IMG.zip]
NO IMAGE!
LOADING...[PC36IMG.nbh]
NO IMAGE OR WRONG IMAGE!

As you can see it does not prompt me to update...I have no idea whats going on.
Maybe i'm using the wrong s-on file? the one i used is the one found in the unrooting part of rooting for dummies....gingerbread edition article on here.
Please help. I feel like i've tryed everything. I noticed that there is a text file in the s-on .zip folder ive been trying to get to work. Should i delete the text file? I have not extracted this folder. Just a straight transfer to my phones sd. Any ideas? Help is greatly appreciated.

do you have a bigger card? EVO from my understanding doesn't like anything less than 8gig

also i believe there is an exe that you can run from the computer to accomplish S-On in that same article

i don't have a bigger on hand. i could always get one if i was sure that was the problem. i've try to different cards. they always worked for flashing roms. if there is a way to get s-on from my computer that would be lovely but i didnt see it in the article.

yeah for some reason the evo have issues with 2g cards. not sure why but it seems it has trouble flashing files from it. i would suggest argedion said and get a bigger card. it should work after that. just make sure that:
1. it is named correctly with no extra zips as windows hides extensions. it needs to be PC36IMG.zip
2.and it needs to be on the card, and not in any folder.

if those two are done correctly, hboot should be able to see it and ask you to update.
