Root Need to Unroot Evo but Charging Port Broken

So here is my situation. I have an Evo that is out of the 1 year warranty, but I still have the accident coverage on it. I have my phone rooted running CM7. From what I've read it's almost imperative that your charging port is working to unroot the phone. I'm not looking for instructions on how to unroot with the port; however if it is possible to unroot without the port working I would be interested in that.

I have a couple of questions. My wife also has an evo that is completely stock, and I'm currently using her phone to charge my battery as needed

1. Would I be able to use my MicroSD card in her phone to transfer the files necessary to unroot then transfer it back to mine to complete the process?

2. This probably should have preceded question 1, but will my MicroSD card cause any problems with her phone since my phone is rooted and her phone is not?

3. If I am able to pull my nandroids off my MicroSD card and transfer them to my computer via her phone, if I get a replacement phone, will I be able to use my nandroids from my current phone on a replacement?

Thank you all in advance for your time.

Hello,

There is a section in the Rooting for Dummies Gingerbread sticky, titled, Unrooting.

Looks like you could put the needed files on the sd card using a card reader and your pc.

you could also put any info you want to keep off your sd card on to your pc and format after, if you want. Though I don't think they would bother her phone at all. I do think you could restore them to sd card for further use on new phone but you would have to root it first.

Hope this helps!

Thanks, Looking for a little more definitive answer.... Would I be better off flashing back to a sense rom nandroid (It's pre-gingerbread, I THINK) and trying to go back to S-on?

what is your hboot? if it is hboot 2.1 or less then use the http://androidforums.com/evo-4g-all-things-root/194918-rooting-dummies.html guide. it has a unrooting section. basically you flash the s-on tool and use a PC36IMG file to get install the stock rom and stock recovery.

if you have 6.16 then you can unroot your phone by following the http://androidforums.com/evo-4g-all...ooting-dummies-guide-gingerbread-edition.html. there is an unrooting section. just keep in mind that you will be able to install a stock rom and stock recovery but you will net have s-on. it will still be s-off. i think that as long as you have a stock recovery sprint would not care.
