Root Netflix work around? Is there a chance in hell this could work?

Ok. first...THANKS
second...I can now get everything to load, but when I try to watch, i get sound with no pic. Hmmm. help again (as usual)

Mine looks like this now:

ro.product.model=HTC Vision
ro.product.brand=huawei ---
ro.product.name=huawei_ascend ---
ro.product.device=ascend --- or do I need to cange these too?
ro.product.board=M860 ---
ro.product.cpu.abi=armeabi-v6j
ro.product.cpu.abi2=armeabi
ro.product.manufacturer=HTC

yea try the nexus settings,i hear different ascends use different settings let us know how it works

ro.product.model=Nexus S
ro.product.manufacturer=samsung

ro.product.cpu.abi=armeabi-v6j
ro.product.cpu.abi2=armeabi

just wondering something stupid...
wonder if changing the armeabi-v6j to maybe 7 or something...to maybe trick it into getting flash to work? LOL.

I did this, but the netflix app won't even open for me...It just force closes right away....hmmmm...

1. Root is required. Make a Nandroid backup! (I accidentally deleted by build.prop file and bootlooped my phone)

2. Download ES File Explorer (Or any other root file editor)

3. In ES File Explorer, go into Setting > Root Settings and enable both check boxes

4. Navigate to /system/ and copy/paste build.prop to /sdcard/ (just in case)

5. Open & edit /system/build.prop

6. Change the following lines to make your phone think it is a HTC G2:

1. ro.product.model=HTC Vision
2. ro.product.brand=tmobile
3. ro.product.name=vision
4. ro.product.device=vision
5. ro.product.board=vision
6. ro.product.manufacturer=HTC

7. Reboot the phone

8. Install the netflix apk (if you haven

Got bored and figured i would give it a try. It's working great, thanks to everyone who figured this out. I love how every time people try to leave the ascend out of the party, the ascenders always find a way in.

Honestly, I have to say Ascend has to be one of the better phones in the market, because it appears easy to manipulate, lol.

And we have the best forum from what I can see of my few days here :P

Haha..but once we crash the party, we finish the keg, take all the hot chicks, and do burnouts on the front lawn lol. :cool:

I can get the app to open no prob but it always say wrong user name or password but i can log on to my ps3 or xbox360 netflix with that password...Then i changed the password and same problem...i tried both workarounds with the same results.

Meant MBps.. 1000Kb I think.. Always get it confused lol. I'll speedtest.net to make sure when home.. Highest speed residential comcast in fl

Ok..
9.28 Mb/s down
2.06 Mb/s up

Can't seem to run the speedtest.net app from the market as it crashes once it gets to upstream test..
