Root New "Bugless" 2.01+2.1 apps ROM...

I am going to check my computer - I was having computer USB issues for a week last month and I couldn't fix it. Then poof, it was better.
I will update soon

I'm still running v6.
I've loaded v8 twice.
Got the boot loop the first time and did a nandroid restore to v6
The second time i did the factory wipe then used nandroid restore method and lost all of my apps. Redownloading them is a major PITA so i went back to v6 again.

I'm confused on what files he needs me to delete so I can just do a (no data loss) update.zip. I have root explorer. Any help?
Forget it
Third times a charm

8.3 is so yesterday! ;)

Just went to 7.3 overclocked.

Rocking 800 and am not sering any temp issues using sensor list app to monitor...

So I tried going from 6 to 8.3 and I ended up getting the looping boot. Had to pull the battery and do a nandroid restore. The one thing I noticed is that there was a "boot" file listed in my SDcard and was wondering if it was conflicting with the update. Well, I ended up deleting it and try the update again. Same story, had to restore again. Does anyone have any idea what's wrong? Was deleting that boot file a bad idea?

I tried going from 0.4 to 0.8.x and got the same result. I tried deleting all of the apps from /system that he advised, but still no good. I eventually bit the bullet, did a full data wipe (factory reset), then installed 0.8.2 and now 0.8.3.

I have all 140 of my apps backed up and my Sweeter Home theme saved, so it's really not that big of a deal to start from scratch.

I know this is really a dumb question, but what does a factory restore accomplish? What is it going to put me in after the restore/reboot? I'll definitely give it a shot if it will get me to 8.3.

That will bring your DROID back to stock and delete all of your apps, data, settings, etc...

Do you have a nandroid backup of your current config? If so, do the full data wipe and then install 0.8.3. If it doesn't work out, you can always revert back, right? That's what is so great about nandroid backups. Just make sure when you create your current nandroid backup to select every field for the backup. Not sure if that's necessary, but that's what I do. ;)

Thanks, doing a complete backup now. Is there any reason my apps will be lost if they're backed up with astro, or is the factory reset going to wipe all those out? Not a big deal as I don't have a ton of apps, but I'd prefer not to have to re download them. I might try updating with 7.1 and then go to 8.3 if I don't have to reset then.

Edit: Nevermind, I guess I can revert back if things are messed up anyway and keep all my apps no?

Wait, so am I able to use the update.zip since this "should" be the first time I'm installing his ROM? Kind of funny seeing the stock setup, a little scary with how few apps are there.

Alright, it worked! Thanks for the help, Joe. I love these forums. I keep threatening to root my girlfriends droid, but she won't let me, damn! Still has the same damn background as the day she got it, no fun.

So Joe, you running 83 and over-clocked? That working well for you? I want to upgrade to .8.3 from .8.2 but I'm readying the thread over there and everyone is talking about deleting apps? Which apps would I need to delete? I thought we could just run the Update.zip and be done with it?

Sweetness, just put on bugless beast. Tis a thing of beauty :D. (had to do nandroid since it wouldn't read the update.zip...)

I may have overlooked it, but there was a way to get rid of stock apps in a previous ROMs had? I was able to go into Manage Apps and get rid of Amazon MP3, Email etc, but they're not listed with 8.3. Thoughts?

Okay, I'm starting to have some issues with 8.3 I'm now getting FCs pretty frequently and ever time I unmount the phone, it reboots. Any ideas why this would happen?

From 0.8.2 to 0.8.3 is just a simple update. Go for it.

I've been running 8.3 for quite a while (with some side-trips to other ROMS) and haven't had much in the way of issues - a couple FCs with an app called ICE (it's resident when the phone is locked and may not play well w/the modified lock screen)...also I think I had a couple FCs from Foxy Ring, but other than that it's been great.

I've never had any USB issues, rebooting or connection problems of any kind w/8.3.

Not sure what to tell you - I've been applying the Bugless ROMs for a while now, and 8.3 is has been trouble-free and easy to use as any he's produced.

I just improved 8.3 by adding Tasmanian_droid's 900mhz overclock nandroid. (Also applied the wifi fix.)

Phone is clipping along nicely, and temps don't appear to be different from stock.

I'm tempted to try the 1.1 Mhz overclock, but I'm a little bit chicken... <bok-bok-bok-bok> ;)

Joe, thanks so much for posting that link. I'm reading up on all the root/ROM threads right now, planning to root for the first time this weekend and then install the Bugless ROM. I flashed custom ROMs on my Palm Treo many times, but this will be a first with my Droid -- and I'm a little nervous about it.

Don't be surprised if I'm back sometime this weekend begging for help from you awesome folks in the know!!

Bump! I have the same issue as dread here. If I unmount my phone it crashes and reboots.

Sorry to be so stupid on this, but are you referring to the Bugless Beauty thread on AllDroid?

I dont think I am in the right place over there... Could someone possibly IM me a link?

Thanks!
