Maybe there is something for the desire user to "upgrade" to in the future?!

the top one for me is the ONLY one that looks nice....the middle one looks like an old windows mobile phone...the HD mini, which was nice but...bland looking...

and the bottom one...oh christ that thing is ugly..and it has a TINY lil screen too...I mean what is that...3inch?? :|

Like the 2nd one personally. Have always liked the HTC WinMo phones but just without the Winmo.

Think these first three posts have shown the diversity of taste on this forum :D

I think I'm gonna head back to Symbian after my contract ends as thats where all the cool kids hang out ;)

1st phone looks the best IMO. is that a front facing camera I wonder?

Like the 2nd phone too - chunky.

The 3rd one looks like the HTC Smart (with no wi-fi!). Maybe it's called the HTC Smarter (WITH wi-fi!) ?

EDIT: read the linked article, not sure whether I trust what they say. Example, they say the 3rd phone is the Smart 2 (which makes sense) but it won't be a large screen handset - it's a small phone.

It looks small.

There's also the HTC Gratia which gets its UK release in early February. It's a mid range phone that should replace the Wildfire, and the spec sheet suggests it may have lost all the negative points that the Wildfire has. Nice looking handset too :)

Although I'm 14 months away from a phone upgrade it's hard not to get excited about what's being planned! A phone the same size as the Desire with a larger battery, more internal storage out of the box, and better speakers would be perfect.

Me, I like the Nexus-S, but I've also got 14 Months to wait. Maybe the Nexus-E?

This.

Could have got myself the Nexus S instead of the Desire if I'd waited 2 months....for free, on the same contract too :( :(

Ah well...still pleased with my Desire (apart from the sh*t internal memory) :)

Ditto, that and the perv smiling

the funny thing is that guy ISNT a perv...hes actually a method actor doing teaching via videos....for example thats ONE video on how to strike a look to the camera, hes got others where hes doing other things...was on graham norton...just Russell likes the pervy look :p:D

Based on looks alone, the second handset looks like a logical step up from the Desire HD.

The third handset is probably a step up from the Wildfire.

I'm totally basing those assumptions on aesthetics though.

first one for me... it seems more like a Desire
second one.. ok but I think it's very large, a DHD upgrade maybe?
third one... omg... no thanks

none of them look very innovative, it looks like HTC couldnt be arsed to uprate their designs.
not saying they are ugly but they have been sporting the same look for ages

To be honest, are any of these really an improvement in looks on the current Desire. I have the Black version from Orange and I still think it's just about the best looking unit around.

The Desire will take some beating, I've had mine since June last year and there's nothing on the market that I'm envious of.

Next time round I'll be sticking with Android and most likely with HTC too, so I'll what they've got come September time. I wouldn't be surprised to see handsets which are "all screen" with a couple of physical buttons on the side or top (power, volume) and a thin "frame". Oh, it would be nice not to have to press the on/off button to see if the phone is on! Pressing the Home button would be a better way to wake it up from sleep.

I guess what I'd like is a longer lasting battery, a better camera, hardware than can record solid HD video and um, well, that's it really. A front facing camera perhaps but I don't think I'd use it much.

From Android itself I'd really like to see an improved market where I can buy or rent tv and film. It's the one area that iTunes really wins without question, only Apple has a simple to use video store and I'd love to be able to easily and legitimately get hold of video content for my phone.

just purchased the Desire hd ,can not put it down so much going on massive screen and superfast browsing a definate contender to rival the i-phone
