Just dropping in to say hi!! Been an Evo user for 2 years now and ive finally rooted :D what took me so long.. nerves lol ..
Any way any sugestions on kernels and Roms.. my current is listed :D
Cheerss all and im looking forward to learning a ton here!!!

See my sig..been running it for 4 months since I rooted.
I would suggest, my opinion, get rid of that recovery. I've heard of issues with it. But, that being said, some people like it. I would suggest Amon ra (I forgot what version) or the recovery in my sig.
And you will learn a ton here...I for sure did...great help and people here.

Amon RA v2.3 is the best recovery in my opinion. Never had a problem with it at all. Here's a highlight of some of the popular ROMs and Kernels that I've seen around here at AF and XDA.

SENSE ROMs:
-MikG 3.11
-Tommy's Classic 0.1.0 Finale
-SOS (Swagged Out Stock) X/N/S
-AlterROM

AOSP ROMs:

-CM7 (7.1 or 7.2)

ICS ROMs:
-MIUI.us (HWA - hardware acceleration)
-MIUI.android (non-HWA)
-Team D.I.R.T CM9 port (HWA)
-AOKP (non-HWA)
-Evervolv


SENSE Kernels:
-Underworld v6 (sbc and non-sbc)
-Freedom
-LionFish (Freedom based)
-Anthrax (supports Beats Audio)

AOSP (GB and ICS) Kernels:
-Tiamat (non-HWA)
-Mason (very popular, HWA and non-HWA, FSO and non FSO, sbc and non sbc)
 
I love smelkus recovery. I recommend it to everyone. Its better than RA 2.3 in my opinion.

AS far as a ROM/kernel suggestion you are sitting pretty with decks reloaded and Mason kernel. Just keep on going on :D

If you want to try a sense based ROM I'd suggest Tommy's classic
 
i like the smelkus mod recovery only because i can wipe multiple things with one click..and it has the format all .zips incorporated as well..another thing, when I nandroid I tend to save it before bed..so the incorporated reboot when finished mod lets me fall asleep while the phone works!

I flashed it earlier and I must say it's nice. I do like the wiping set up now.

I'm on the fence about flashing the new Decks (I've been loyal to Mik so far)
Trying to read as much about decks before taking the plunge. Lots of questions...maybe I should start another thread.:D
 
I have been on Mik roms pretty much constantly since i rooted. I have tried other aosp roms and liked them pretty much but they had little idiosyncrasies that annoyed and perplexed me. :p

i have been running the reloaded rom since I installed it. I use the GoLauncher with it though. I LIKE it!!!

I may just flash it this weekend when I have time to play with it (ha:p the rom, that is).
If I have any questions that cant be answered by searching, I'll hunt you down dustwun:D

Read the directions on the op well though. It went smoothly for me.

I don't know if you have ever used a different launcher or not, that golauncher is a trick.

you can populate your pages really fast because you can pick more than one app at a time to put on them.

You can backup your setups and restore them afterwards. works well.

and man, when I lit off gpstest, was looking at numerous satellites immediately!

It is smooth!

just a word of caution that cwm and rom manger are horrible at wiping and rom manager especially has been known to be very buggy. so i would wipe like 3 or for times before flashing anything. just a word of caution. amon ra 2,3 is so much better then cwm. plus cwm you are limited to only flashing certain files.
