yes. the way i did it was i DL'd it to my PC, plugged my phone into the comp, transferred it to my phone'd SD card. Then i powered off my phone, rebooted it while holding the volume down button and choosing to boot the file from the SD.

We dont have a home PC, so if i was to Dl it from her phone to the SD card, then do the same procedure would that work?

Yes... just make sure to move it to the root (top-level) folder of the SD card and rename it to "update.zip". You can do that with any file manager.
