You must be on the 2.1 OTA or 2.1.3 leak. This link will take you to information of how to get back to stock to receive this update. http://androidforums.com/htc-droid-eris/92096-verizons-ruu-official-2-1-droid-eris-2.html
1. Download and re-name to update.zip
2. Turn your phone off, and then back on by pressing Vol-Up & End/Power until the phone starts.
3. Wait 15 seconds.
4. Then press Vol-Up & End/Power again - you should get a short menu, one entry of which will say something about "sdcard:update.zip"; choose that.
5. After the update applies itself, reboot.

FireFox and IE don't like your link and throw security warnings.

just remove the "s" from "https" at the beginning of the URL... will download fine. Its still on a google server...no security issues

Looks to me from the update script it is looking at the md5sum of files and if they match, they get patched. So all way have to do is figuring out the patching method and take a rooted sense image and apply those patches, and then package it back up.

Check the XDA thread New update For July 2010 - xda-developers - "bftb0" ran the update on his/her rooted phone with the leak V3 partitions installed, and then posted up the resulting /system partition.

So, getting the patched files is done; what remains is to provide some no-wipe overlay .zips made.

Seems like PlainJane 1.0 and Ivanmmj's Official 1.0 probably could share the same update file.

Now this has been found, how do we figure out what is new in this update? And how does one install this?

Read down a bit after bftb0's post, n8thegr8 posted an non-wipe update.zip that people have used. I'm about to run it now. From what they've reported, service is stronger.

Sorry, didn't realize how confusing that looked. I was referring to the XDA thread.

I never got the update from verizon. I just downloaded this and copied to the phones memory card but couldnt figure out how to install it?

HOw do I Install this?

Download it.
Move it to the root folder of your SD card.
Rename it "update.zip"
Turn your phone off, and then back on by pressing Vol-Up & End/Power until the phone starts.
Wait 15 seconds.
Then press Vol-Up & End/Power again - you should get a short menu, one entry of which will say something about "sdcard:update.zip"; choose that.

This update is keyed to only specific releases, namely leak-V3 and OTA2.1. It will abort on 1.5, leaks V1 & V2, and the original root-ROM.

Erisuser, I am on OTA 2.1, not rooted.
Is this file for me? Is it the same that being pushed?
DoI need to make a factory reset after installation?
Thanks
Peter
